I usually don't write alot of reviews, but in this specific case I thought I would share my opinion with the community, and that it is nessesary for people who are fans of previous deus ex games just as I am.

I am mostly going to compare Deus Ex Mankind Divided (MD) with Deus Ex Human Revolution (HR) which is the deus ex game i have played most of by far (100 hours, roughly 3 playthroughs).

Pros:

Very good textures and grapics -> I have a GTX 980 and can only play this game at high (best setting being ultra)

Extensive options menu -> Alot of options regarding gameplay and display

Hacking -> The new hacking system they've put into this game is very extensive and fun, almost like a mini-game within the game. In HR one simply had to get stealth augments for hacking and then you could hack everything in the game, here however one has to use different abilities to make sure to secure a hack, even with augmentations to help.

Cons:

Short and shallow story -> I ended up at 18 hours when I finished this game, and then I also tried to do pacifist and foxiest of the hounds achivments (not killing anyone and setting of no alarms) at the same time. The ending was kind of like a sad ending in bed with a girl saying: "what? Are you done Already?!" compared to HR, which has a very extensive and deep story that really emerges you with the world, and usually has a playthrough finishing at 30 hours, I didn't feel any connections to MD what so ever, and that the issues that were brought up as a starting point in the begining of the game, wasn't solved what so ever at the end of the game. I just didn't really feel like I accomplished anything.

In-game microtransactions -> This is not a huge deal to me since it's a singleplayer game, but it still says something about Square Enix when they put a feature like this into the game. I'm not really going to go further into this, but the fact that it's there sets a new bar of low standards for a triple A release.

Combat -> The combat is very responsive and fluent to play. I actually feel like it's a rippoff of HR, since the only thing that's different in the combat is that there is LESS weapons to choose from in MD than in HR and a few more augmentations (8). I basiclly used the same exact build as I used in HR. This in itself is not a problem really since it is a sequel, but I expected something more for the amount of money I put on this game.

Conclusion:

For the price, defenitly not worth it. Buy it at a sale at atleast 50% off or more. Compared to HR, not even worthy of being called a sequel, Especially not when looking at the story.

Square Enix, you done ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.
