This poor company is getting review bombed due to the vocal minority alphabet group. There is nothing wrong with the game, it is a good game, and I urge the developers to stand their ground and defend their actions. Their mod was right in that discussions about sexuality and sexual orientation do not belong in a global chat, where children can potentially see it.

When I first got the game, I don't remember if it was immediately given to me or shortly after I played a few missions, but I got a patch for my helmet. This patch read, simply:
"This game was awesome - until today."

Amusing, I thought, that they developers would create a call-out for, no doubt, all the players that would complain about new updates ruining the game. Ironically, after the "Enhanced Edition" update, this couldn't be more true.

Immediately I notice that the FPS is worse, about half of what I used to get. I thought maybe the settings just got changed, so I went into the options, tinkered a bit, and got about half of the missing frames back... good enough, I thought.

Next, I went to the controls to make sure nothing had changed, and to my horror I discovered that not only had all of my HOTAS keybinds been wiped, but that the game no longer could even detect my joystick and throttle at the same time. The whole reason I got this game to begin with was because of surprisingly good HOTAS support... somehow, it seems most developers these days have simply forgotten how to allow multiple controllers at the same time, and unfortunately this game now follows that trend.

For me, because of the way I enjoy playing the game, this change in particular has made the game unplayable. Other people have a lot of other problems... worse HUD, worse FPS, worse handling, worse textures, worse menus, etc. But for me, I can't even analyze those problems because my preferred method of playing the game, a method I had been using for my full 50+ hours from the beginning, is suddenly no longer an option.

The best thing the developers could do right now is roll-back the game to the previous, old, stable version until all of the major problems have been corrected. But I've been gaming my entire life, and I know very few developers have the resolution required to make such a bold action, despite how well-received it would be by the community. I s'pose that's what happens when you are detached from the community, elevated above the generic gamer... you get an exaggerated sense of pretentiousness.

Sure, you're the developer, you know the guts of the game better, maybe, but you aren't the target audience. There are a few developers out there that are good, that listen to their customers, and deliver what is requested. Those developers get an outrageous amount of public support from their fans. Unfortunately, based on what I've read from others, I don't think these developers are one of them.

"This game was awesome - until today."

Be warned. Anything marked with a spoiler tag like this --> spoiler is a significant storyline spoiler.
So for anyone wondering, Fallen Jedi is a pretty damn good Star Wars game. I completed the entire thing under (Padawan / Knight / Master / Grandmaster) difficulty in just under 30 hours, getting every unlockable and secret. While technically "Hard," I'd say Master is the most balanced difficulty in regards to challenge. Mistakes or bad timing would be punished, but not usually with immediate death, unless you ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up several times in a row.
Gameplay would best be described as Dark Souls-lite-esque with Metroidvania exploration elements. Depending on difficulty, combat can be a major challenge, and enemies pull no punches. No queues to fight you here, everyone wants to wail on the Jedi at the same time. If you die, you respawn at the last meditation circle, and have to attack the enemy that defeated you to regain your experience. If you rest at a circle, all enemies respawn. Health and Force are a limited resource, although as you progress you gain ways of replenishing them without resting.
While not having much replayability unless you want to tackle it at a harder difficulty, the story was engaging the entire time and the main voice actors did a very good job expressing their character's emotions.
When compared to other Star Wars gems, such as the original Battlefront series, KotoR, and Jedi Outcast/Academy, Fallen Order lands squarely among them, enough so that finishing it gave me a brief bout of post-story depression.
This is no Force Unleashed. You are not some super powerful force user trained by Darth Vader himself. At the start you are a Padawan in hiding, and have been for the last five years. While you do become noticeably more powerful throughout the story, don't expect to be cranking off force pushes every second without draining yourself. And you never become that powerful. This is incredibly evident at the end when Darth Vader shows up. One of your allies, an accomplished ex-Jedi Master, is immediately tossed aside like a ragdoll. You yourself are almost immediately overwhelmed and barely get away the first time. And then Vader starts stalking you like a monster from a horror game. You turn around and he's there. You get to the exit and. He's. There. You get the very real feeling you barely escaped something you had no hope of defeating, which is much different from Force Unleashed, where you're so powerful you manage to overcome.
In short, if you like Star Wars in general, or even like the type of gameplay, you should give it a try.
Note to the devs: If by some chance you come across and read this review, I want more. Be it DLC missions, NG+, challenge stages, wave survival, or something I haven't considered, give us more. Some more variety to Cal's clothing would be nice too, more than just palette swaps.
