A unique and interesting RTS game that utterly disrespects the player's time and agency with hilariously poor design decisions such as zero save points, lengthy & repetitive gameplay, and complete disregard for quality of life mechanics established in the RTS genre, such as queuing commands of different types.

Really atmospheric, and respectful of the player and the game's rules. The music is phenomenal. Every fight feels responsive and within your control. You may die in a single hit, but every boss has a vital spot that'll kill them just as quickly. Sometimes it takes intense timing, aim, and critical thinking to reveal the vital spot, but it'd be little more than target practice else-wise. The game takes a very reserved route in terms of a narrative, but with understandable mechanics, gorgeous atmosphere (both aurally and visually) it isn't lacking because of it. In fact, I think it adds to the overall experience. Just like you teach yourself how to defeat the bosses, you piece together the game's world with the things you notice scattered around the explorable areas.

I've gone through one playthrough, and am looking forward to my next one or few, to see what else is in store. On a side note I really, really enjoyed the "lost woods" area, which used space with joyful abandon, throwing my generally analytical thought process for a loop.

If you're into difficult games with tight rules and glorious atmosphere, this game may be for you!
