Only 3 hours in, but this feels like it's winding up to be another solid entry into an already venerable series, and the first on the new engine. Game looks and plays great, seems set to elevate both the storytelling and the gameplay from the prior arc. Wasn't 100% sold on the real-time field combat, but after experiencing it I can say it makes fighting non-boss enemies in areas much less of a slog. It's still a bit simple (I hear they've added more options in the next entry), but maybe that's it's strength - it gets out of it's way and lets you enjoy the game. Sad to hear this series is just about over, but hopefully Falcom can put these game mechanics to use in their new IP.

Easily worth every one of it's MetaCritic points. A strong early contender for GotY as we ll as my pick for most bad-ass game of 2013 to date!
