nice neo-noir / 80s art style, brutal action gameplay (kinda reminds you of hotline miami as a sidescroller), top synthwave soundtrack and the story's also pretty great!

Best Roguelike game i ever laid my hands on! Played the game since early access and even then it was already filled with content and felt very polished.
The devs are constantly working on the game - updates / new content (e.g. Free DLC Rise of the Giant!) / imrovements on gameplay etc. are happening regularly.
I'm save to say that the game is worth the current full price at any rate. even though i paid less when i got it back then - i would pay the full price again anytime.
Gameplay, movement, combat, balancing - all of it feels very polished and intuitive. Also the visual style of the game is really well done!

i can give my strongest recommendation for this game - anybody who likes roguelikes and good combat gameplay should try this.

Unfortunately i can't recommend this game. I really wanted to like it but i ended up quitting & refusing to finish it - rarely was i so dissapointed by a game which looked that good to me.
This is my first review in a long time and first negative one, and i'm mostly writing it because of my dissapointment.

First of all the artstyle & setting of the game is great, although it can clearly be said that this games rides the wave of 80s nostalgia.
The first 2 hours into the game i was excited and confident that this is as good as i expected.
But the further i progressed the clearer it got to me:
I'm having less fun than i am annoyed by the game, and that's because i decided to quit. Here are a couple of reasons:

- Awful written dialogues
- Characters represent known clichés at best, generally unlikeable
- bland story writing
- Clunky controls
- Balancing issues (Puzzles sometimes completely unclear / Boss Fights suddenly ridiculously hard/annoying)
- senseless character skill allocation
- Gameplay only fun occasionally

I really liked how the game & gameplay looked, even played the demo shortly. Didn't expect that i eventually had to quit this game..

Very good game. Interesting art style and presentation, i like it a lot :)
Good Story. Fast gameplay, controls are really good. Difficulty is quite challenging, but in a good way.
Prepare to die a lot :P but that doesn't break the fun, it's more like part of the game.
Dying, everybody dies, a lot.. and you will, too :D
Soundtrack's simply awesome and very fitting to this game and the time it takes place in.
Awesome Game, so go and paint the floor with ketchup!

10/10 would kill everybody again

I'm very impressed by this game.
Sure, the gameplay's pretty simple and not challenging at all.
But beside that you play a touching story where you meet characters who feel very real, with great character development, tough decisions, and real emotions.
You start to actually care about what happens to the protagonist and the people you're together with.
Also, you take part in the story as the things you do and the decisions you make have an impact to the story and characters.
I can't remember anytime i was that emotionally attached to the characters and the story of a video game.

Starting with season two now.
10/10

Best Adventure i've played since the uncharted series!
A lot Better than the Tomb Raider Reboot from 2013, which i liked, but it was too much action/third person shooter, and less adventure/tomb raider.
This game does almost everything right and leaves me satisfied and impressed.

Wonderful Graphics.
Beautiful world.
So much to explore.
Diversive showplaces.
Good Gameplay.

Hopefully there will be more Adventure games like this & i'm looking forward how the tomb raider series will continue in the future :)
