Barely even coloring some places in. Then I started mixing up light and dark hues for elevation and walls. Maybe sprinkle a splash of variety on the trees before filling the floor in. Why not add a texture to the beaten path...
The game develops a sort of meta growth, as both you and the protagonist learn to have fun with the experience and trust your judgement when deciding how to color the land and handle the character's struggles. The game goes far into exploring that journey, and the trials taken to accept oneself.
