Early Access Review
One of my favorite games that I've played in the past few years. I love the exploration, music, automation, and logistics puzzles you'll inevitably encounter. Really satisfying to design and construct your own factories. I recommend this to anyone interested in engineering.

its pretty cool. the platforming and puzzles can get frustrating though. its very easy to miss the simplest of things and get stuck/lost in a level.

Most of the game is great, but I didn't like the last parts of Xen. Theres a point where Xen starts transitioning into these levels that look like they're ripped from doom. you walk through these alien structures that appear super rectangular and blocky. it was super ugly. By the time i reached this part of the game, i was also pretty sick of the platforming and puzzles. i really didnt like that last section of Xen and i dont think it fit half-life.

Absolutely awful performance problems, load times that can last minutes, and incredibly buggy graphics options.

Killed all of my motivation and excitement for the game. Cant even maintain 60 FPS on a high-end system after spending almost an hour tweaking the settings.

Avoid this game until these issues are fixed.

pretty cool mech game, originally on the Playstation 2 many years ago.

Fast paced action with pretty good controls. It has a slick anime art style and even some animated cutscenes, if that's your style. Plays great in 4K and the updated crisp textures help hide the age of the game. The soundtrack is pretty awesome too.

its short and its a little button-mashy at times, but i found it fun to revisit again. Doesn't really have any replayability though.

Playing it in VR is cool, but not exactly perfect. it puts you in the cockpit and it definitely wasn't designed to be played that way.

i really wanted to like this game. i generally like final fantasy games, but this MMO felt really generic and incredibly boring. it has all the typical characteristics of an MMO, but it doesn't innovate or feel unique at all. it doesn't feel like a final fantasy game.

in short: the gameplay felt really slow and boring, the world was pretty average-looking for an MMO, interface is a little clunky. since its subscription based, i forced myself to play it, thinking i'd get to the "good" content in shadowbringers. but i couldn't take it anymore and only got to level 60. i had to waste money on the expansion to level past 50.

im kinda unsure if ill revisit the game later or not.

wait for a good sale.

i only played the single player story, horde mode, and escape.

i didn't care a whole lot about the story. there was only one particular level that got me interested, but the game never follows up and delivers on it. most of the story felt like filler. theres also some open world levels that really dont feel like they belong in Gears. its honestly boring and tedious to ride the skiff around for extended periods of time.

Shooting is fun. its really refreshing to play Gears on PC again. Enemies are fun to kill, and theres plenty of fun guns to use. everything feels pretty smooth.

Horde mode is just too boring. this game mode definitely needs some innovation. i was surprised to find that this mode is mostly the same as the older Gears games. there's not enough enemies per wave. also, every time you complete a wave, the scoreboard covers your entire screen for 10 seconds. its very annoying. i really wish the waves were faster with more enemies.

i didnt play much escape mode. its a bit more exciting than horde mode, i think. although, theres a small annoying cutscene every time a game starts. also, the gamemode doesn't feel unique. they just limit your ammo and guns to increase difficulty.

overall, the game is okay, its fun, but doesn't feel worth the price. just wait for a sale.
