This game is honestly a 10/10. This game throws you right into the deep end with no hints. Just tells you the basics. You'll play all through act 1, realize something pivotal about how the game works, and suddenly you want to start all over and rebuild your party. I literally did that 8 times and didn't dive too deep into act 2 until about 150 hours of gameplay because of it. The game is just so deep and rewarding to play.

Playing on harder difficulties, you start realizing that you can use your gigabrain knowledge of the game to cheese fights. And when you take a fight that looks unwinnable and employ a game-changing strategy, there's no greater feeling in the world.

Probably the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen in any video game. Satisfies my craving for an open world RPG. This game is absolutely massive. I'm 55 hours in and I feel like I'm about half way through the game's content. I wish I had known about this game sooner, as I usually don't like assassin's creed games, but this one is literally crack to me.

Listen. This game is just pure fun. When their marketing materials mentioned that there's no collectibles and they just decided to make their game fun instead, that resonated with me, and that is absolutely true. This is genuinely a fun game, where features have been meticulously added to ensure that it is constantly fun in new and interesting ways. Nothing too hard, nothing too easy. The environment is interactive and there are a bunch of opportunities to play fun mini-games against your friend. Each of them are well designed, easy to understand, and appear at a the ideal pace as to not overshadow the rest of the game. At one point, you're able to have a snowball fight with your friend, but it's a purely organic activity that doesn't keep score or care where you choose to do so. All the game gives you is a pile of snowballs and the ability to throw them at each other and knock the other person down briefly. You can even sneak a snowball into a puzzle and ruin your friend's jump unexpectedly because that's just how interactive the game is. I would literally change nothing about this game. $40 is a completely fair price for a product of this quality. Knowing how good it was going to be ahead of time, I would have paid more. 11/10

Okay, the cons first.

Non-Gameplay Cons
1. When you fire up the game, the first thing you need to do every time is open up Sound Mixer Settings in Windows and set the volume of Red Dead Redemption 2 from 8 to 100. For some reason, the splash screen sets it to 8 and this problem still hasn't been patched.
2. I've had some interesting experiences with HDR. Firstly, the game always starts in Borderless Fullscreen, which means that HDR cannot be enabled. I have to switch that to Fullscreen. When I do so, there's like a 50% chance that the game takes control of my monitor and enables HDR. If it doesn't, I have to restart the game and try again. I don't know if it's my monitor or not, but I have the LG-38GN950-B.

Gameplay Cons
1. The game will sometimes leave you questioning if it is safe to sell an item or how to safely manage it. It inevitably leads to you googling your questions about what you should do with certain types of items. And once you understand how this works, it all good from then on. But having to google some things kinda sucks.
2. You can save your game and load your game, but the problem is that loading your game respawns you in a random place. This means that you can't save your game prior to a random encounter, fail the encounter, and then load your game to retry the encounter. Loading your game kinda makes that encounter disappear. This is annoying because it will also reset animal parts that you have stored on your horse, potentially losing valuable items.
3. Random encounters are sometimes really annoying. To the point of wanting to just quit the game for a while. It's all fun and games until you get killed by one. You'll be minding your own business and suddenly you get jumped by a mob. Now, if you were mentally prepared for this, it's not necessarily that hard of an encounter. But sometimes you're just kinda zoned out and they jump you and it's basically over. It feels like a super unfair fight and that you didn't have a chance. You lose valuable animal parts stowed on your horse, and also some of your money. And you can't load the game back to get your valuable animal parts back because that also removes them and starts you in a random place. Rip that perfect pelt that you were excited to finally get. It's gone forever. Thanks Rockstar.
4. There's a quest in chapter 2 of the game that asks you to seek 4 people out. The game doesn't tell you that this quest isn't able to be turned in until Chapter 4. You can look all you want, you will not find that NPC anywhere to turn in the completed mission until Chapter 4. I had to look that up after spending a long time looking for him. I'm only on Chapter 3 of the game so I'm hoping there's not too many more of these kinds of scenarios.
5. For those looking for more action and less story, this is not the game for you. This game, at times, is very story-driven, and while I love that, I can see how it would make some people with difference preferences kinda bored at times waiting for something exciting to happen. If you're like me, then this is actually a pro.

PROS
1. Assuming you can get past the Non-Gameplay Cons and finally get this game set up the way you want it, this game is gorgeous. Running an AMD RX 5700 XT and a Ryzen 7 3700X, I'm able to achieve about 70 fps with the graphics absolutely cranked on 3840x1600 ultrawide and HDR enabled. The game is stunningly beautiful. The ultrawide+HDR experience is really damn good.
2. The game is incredibly immersive. For those looking for that immersive role playing experience that so few games can actually deliver, you've come to the right place. This game will have you losing track of time and believing that you're really living in the wild west of 1899. The cinematic feel is on point. The art style is amazing. The OST/sound track/atmosphere is world class and very impressive. While missions are generally linear, the game is very open world between missions. Go anywhere, do anything. I spend a lot of my time just chillin between missions. I go hunting, fishing, sight-seeing, farming money by stealing stagecoaches and selling them to a fence, playing the mingames, following treasure maps, and exploring new areas.
3. The map is gigantic. I recommend that if you're approaching this game with fresh eyes, don't look at a full map of the game online. Take some time to just explore it yourself and be amazed at how far you can travel, and the breathtaking views from the northern mountain passes. There is an insane amount of ground to cover and you'll want to experience that firsthand rather than have an online map tell you where everything is.
4. After 43 hours of gameplay, I'm only 35%~ through the game. Granted, I play games like this at a slow pace. I'm not rushing it. I like to savor what the game has to offer, and that gives you an idea of how much gameplay is available. I don't have the patience to finish most games, but I will probably finish this one.
5. This game's texas hold'em minigame is fantastic. As someone who enjoys some texas hold'em, I often find myself jumping into a table and playing a few hands here and there, and it's always a welcome sight to see a game being played. There's other minigames too, but this is a huge pro specifically for me and they executed it very well. They don't shove a bunch of unnecessary UI in your face. You're playing texas hold'em in 1899.

I'm completely new to the Civilization series (this is my first title I've played in the series), and Civilization 6 has redefined my standards for turn-based strategy games.

This game is well-tuned, bafflingly complex, and endlessly replayable. I find the game to be a unique mixture of charming, relaxing, compelling, and intriguing all at the same time. I find myself playing for hours without realizing that it's actually been a matter of hours. I strongly recommend this game.

Overall, I have to decline a recommendation for this game. It has beautiful graphics, and the first bit of the game make you feel like it has potential, but I quickly realized that after 45 minutes of playing, I wasn't really introduced to any new type of puzzle. It's always this kind of maze-like puzzle with slightly different gimmicks added here and there. The gimmicks were interesting for a while, but eventually I really wanted a truly different kind of puzzle too at. I wanted to be able to pick up objects, find some semblence of lore about the main character or the world, and just have a more diverse set of puzzles to look at.

Honestly though, if you're just looking for a super casual puzzle game without any story-elements or a lot of diversity, this isn't a bad choice. This puzzles do get progressively more difficult due to unique mechanics that keep you on your toes, but it nevertheless never changes the true nature of the puzzle. If I could, I would give it a sideways thump instead of a thumbs down, but after 45 minutes, I'm just a little bit too disappointed to give it a thumbs up.
