So at first I was disappointed not realizing that you have to have completed the main game to start this DLC, essentially get to the same point as Throne of the Herald which I was not at yet. But now that I have gotten there and am playing it. WOW! The sheer amount of content it adds is crazy and so many twists on the traditional gameplay that it feels like a completely different game mode (which I guess it kinda is since the items, bonuses and damage doesn't work with base game content). I am currently trying to reach 100% achievements in the base game and have been so completely side tracked by this DLC that it has been all I have been focusing on for the last few weeks. I was steadily approaching the end of Throne of the Herald and again, completely sidetracked by this.

This is an awesome expansion.

While I loved Atlas of Discovery at first for the visual map and unique artifacts, it kinda felt a little hollow adding a bit of mechanics but not radically changing the game. Into the Abyss was the shakeup I needed without even realizing it, and I get to enjoy it without having to create a new character. Now I understand why it is end game content and man is it worth it and rewarding.

So I will preface this by saying I love the 100... Cats series. I have played every one of their games and immediately download every new release.

But this one has a MAJOR hitbox issue. I had to click every cat 3-4 times instead of the usual once and one of the largest cats in the center of the image who is blatantly obvious I counted and I had to click 11 times to get him. I actually questioned whether he was considered a cat at one point.

This was beyond frustrating, especially for a series I normally enjoy so much.

Playing this makes my inner child happy. Also crazy to think this is how I imagined planets looking when I played way back when on PlayStation 2. Runs fantastic and just is such a nostalgic joy while continuing the storyline.

I love it.

Buy it.

I would say this is indeed a creepy title. While there are occasional jump scares and chase sequences I wouldn't say it was too scary or as terrifying as other games. I wish there was a bit more variety to what you were chased by, and when it happens it is clearly broadcasted to you that you are being chased and when you are no longer, and more often then not you can just keep sprinting straight ahead which kills any suspense during those moments as you progress.

With that said there are many references to various Lovecraft stories which is nice to see and pick out as an avid fan. The story was mysterious enough to keep me engaged to the very end to see "The Truth" and faults aside I enjoyed playing through it.

I have to say if there was something that was absolutely stand out to me it was the lighting effects pretty much in every level. It was absolutely beautiful and also evoked creepiness and all sorts of emotions depending on the level. I don't think I can recall a game that made me stop and say wow look at this lighting more than this game has and I really appreciate it for that.

Definitely adds more variety to the game along with materials and a way to go about combat in certain areas. Glad I picked it up.

Edit: So now that I have engaged with this expansion more I absolutely love it! The added game play mechanics like unholy curses (alternative to prayers), barrier and crystallization effects on enemies that you can resist and inflict on enemies, upgrading current gear even further, new weapons and gear found from new enemies or from excavating and now that it has been updated to get museum tokens for already discovered "junk" generic artifacts and use in a shop, it really feels like a must have expansion.

Throne of the Herald is all end game and essentially vertical to the base game but this is a perfect horizontal expansion that can be played at any point along the base game.

Pretty fun TD game that reminds me of older flash games of the same vein. A nice little nostalgia trip to be sure. I like the arrow drop mechanic that improves your skill leading your shots as the game progresses instead of just keeping your mouse on the enemies. The RPG elements are nice and not overly complex. Took about 2 and a half hours to complete on my first play through, maybe a little longer for those without experience in this genre. For a free game it's great to spend some time with.

Definitely in the vein of Hero of the Kingdom and for those who enjoy that series. This game has so many loving nods to various Lovecraft stories it was great having them all together and an overall sense of unease building throughout the game via discovered messages.

The resource management is pretty decent while not too grindy, and well designed that you always have a way to get more resources even when you are out of money, stamina, bait etc. and that's important in these types of games as it is terrible to get stuck because you mismanaged.

For those familiar with this type of game and system it can completed rather quickly as I managed it within an hour, albeit missing some letters.

All in all a good experience especially for free. Definitely going to look into the sequel!

Well I was enjoying this game, a little more strategic match-3 gameplay with card collecting and a bit of meta progression, even made some in game purchases although you get bombarded with them and the prices are horridly expensive even compared to other mobile titles.

I also created an account and downloaded the app on Android to play on the go and was enjoying it until I get back on steam to have it not load the saves from my account and instead force me back through the super long tutorial with no options to quit or get to the the log into account screen. Why I am forced straight back into the tutorial even after quitting, reinstalling and disabling cloud saves I have no idea instead of a main menu, and frankly I am not sitting through the tutorial again just to attempt to get back into my account.

I have never identified more with a fly in my existence.

What a gem.
