As someone who enjoys both roguelikes and Soulslikes -- two genres known for their difficulty and niche appeal -- I was genuinely impressed by what Elden Ring: Nightreign brings to the table. Combining these two styles into one coherent experience is no easy feat, but FromSoftware pulled it off masterfully.

This is the first time we've seen a true Soulslike roguelike (closest to that being Hades and Curse of the dead god but still not really souls likes). Knowing Miyazaki's vision, it was only a matter of time before something like this emerged. Nightreign feels like a testing ground for future innovations: refined co-op systems (thankfully far improved from the original Elden Ring’s clunky multiplayer), flexible build scaling, and more responsive combat.

What stands out most is how it pays tribute to the entire Soulsborne legacy. You can feel the DNA of every previous title here (and for people arguing about "too much asset re-use" i don't really have a problem with that even tho i am a lore enthusiast that wants to understand what, where, when and why you musn't forget that this is a little appetizer while waiting for the next big release):

Double jump and mobility reminiscent of Sekiro (including fast sprinting with no stamina drain),

Classic dark medieval fantasy atmosphere from Dark Souls and Elden Ring,

Aggression and pace inspired by Bloodborne, especially with the time-limited nature of each run (you only have 3 ingame days then you fight the last boss), that pushes you to play faster and take more risks.

The lore takes place in the Elden Ring universe, we don't know when exactly, only that it's after the shatering, creating a rather fresh story while still staying rooted in a familiar world. It’s not just a side mode -- each character (there are 8 of them) has their own lore, and reason for being in this "team" and fighting against the night. the way to learn about the lore is from the dialogues of characters and from the archives at the round tablehold (saddly not from reading little quotes from weapons since all weapons are ported from Elden Ring).

There’s also clever design in how scaling works across classes. Instead of raw stat requirements, weapons and skills require a certain level, which varies depending on your chosen class. For example a strength-based skill/weapon might require Level 9 for a mage, but only Level 6 for a warrior who starts with and gains more strength as he lvls up. It’s a smart system that makes builds more accessible and diverse.

And yes, you do lose more than just runes when you die. You also lose a level, which is impactful because levels increase multiple stats depending on your class. That adds a real weight to each decision and makes every run more intense.

There is also a little roguelite aspect. After each run, you earn money to buy minor talismans that can be equipped before starting a new run. These act as modifiers/boosters and help shape future attempts, adding more depth and replayability.

In short, Nightreign feels like FromSoft's way of exploring where to take the Souls series next. It experiments boldly while satisfying long-time fans who’ve been dreaming of a proper roguelike-Soulslike hybrid. And for what it sets out to do, it absolutely nails it, I am extremely hyped for future updates (especially if they decide to add content from the "Shadow of the Erdtree" DLC like weapons and bosses).
Have fun playing the game but don't take your time too much because here, it is your worst enemy.

whoever you are, or whatever it is that you do, when you really want something, it's because that desire originated in the soul of the universe. It's your mission on earth

it's been 1253 hours of play time now and i am still not done with this game i love the yu gi oh franchise so much and i feel that this game is the best iteration so far since it mixes the online aspect that EDOpro and all those simulators have and the Card collecting aspect of pulling boosters in adition to some amazing animations and menues, also one big upside for this game compared to a lot of free games these days is the F2P capabilities of the game for these 1253 hours i didnt spend a cent on the game and i haven't event felt the need to, so if you like yu gi oh and you are willing to play it this game is for you, and for the new players who are discovering yu gi oh i would advice to find a friend or someone to explain the basics of the game first because if you dive right in you'll gonna be overwhelmed by all the new info witch will hinder your experience. GOOD LUCK TO ALL DUELISTS

really good game for those who like the Yu gi oh universe its a f2P game with ingame purchases, it also has faster duels because in this game we play in the "speed duel" format which has 3 monster zones 3 spell/trap zones 4000 lp and a deck between 20 and 30 cards this is literally the classic yu gi oh format but cut in half for faster duels and more enjoyment so for those who have time to spare and are bored this is game is the one, it also has something good when compared to others yu gi oh games is that you incarnate a character so you can roleplay for exemple playing Kaiba with a blue eyes deck and doing so will grant you animations if you have the deck of a character. you can also transfer your progress to a konami account to play on android and ios with your pc account as it is "mobile" game its a cross platforme too and what i love about this is that we play in one server so when you duel you can see the country of the person you are playing against and can try to collect all countries ;) anyway, i've been a yu gi oh fan since little so maybe i am influenced by that but , yeah just give this game a try you can download it pretty fast and if it doesnt suit you just delete it :D. Stay safe and dont forget dont ever lose faith in your cards.
