TLDR: It's a fun game if you're a fan of city builders or the SteamWorld franchise.

The last city builder I played was Cities: Skylines and I didn't really enjoy it and lose myself into the game like I expected. I haven't had that much fun playing a build/design game since Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 but SteamWorld Build really delivers. The combination of different game elements is great here. Designing a town and managing resources only scratches the surface of what this game offers. Going beneath the surface (pun intended), combining elements from the SteamWorld Dig games into a building game was a stroke of genius. The threat of enemies trying to stop you from progressing gives the game a much needed challenge, and a distraction from the needs of your citizens in a growing community on the surface. All these elements (and more) come together in a game that can easily make time fly by as you get engrossed in trying to hit the next milestone.
