Early Access Review
If you like smash bros, you will like this. it's pretty much the same game with fresh new characters and ideas. It take skill, but I would probably say less than smash, but that is just due to the amount of time that people have been playing it and had experiance with it. Also, the inputs are easier compared to melee, for instance. This game is like somehwere in between PM/melee and brawl/smash 4 and the devs have nearly hit the sweetspot. this game is fairly balanced, though I do have a few things to pick on and say to the contrary.

(EDIT: below I complain about forsburn. He is not the easies to play but he is very strong, I have come to realize. He is a top tier character and this game is very well balanced for the most part.. people used to think fors and maypul were bad but it turns out they are the best in the game. All the other characters are still competitive, though. The opinions below were premature and do not reflect the current meta, but a much earlier one; they also reflect how I felt as a less skilled player. If you like fast paced platform fighting and competitive play get this game. the cast is small but that is for balance reasons. THe cast is very diverse while small, and this game has given me some of the best experiences of any I've ever played. The community is very good for the most part. I have literally added 80 to my friendslist through this game)

This game is great but it defnitely needs a few tweeks. I play forsburn, probably one of if not the hardest characters in the game, and while I am happy with him, it is hard not to fall prey to the rest of the cast, particularly wrastor and zetterburn.
Heck he has a hard time agains most everybody. Once you get to learn how to play him, things do get easier and more doable, but it's not hard for things to become and uphill battle if your opponent know what they are doing as well. I think he requires a bit more awareness and reads, which is not bad i guess, but it is also true of bowser, the worst char in melee.

So I think forsburn may be a bit underpowered, but that may just speak to the difficulty of playing him. its not that his moves are super bad, they are just easier to punish than most other characters.

The rest of the cast seems really tight. wrastor is ridiculous but they just nerfed him so..... not gonna go any further than that. Not that the rest of the cast isnt great. wrastor can just wall you out, his moves have a ton of priority and range, and he can through out tons of them.

anyway, this game is a lot of fun and i played 16 hours in 2 days.. it's a bit addictive.... props to the devs hope to see more great things.

As of today I would not recommend this game. I won't put what others have already written up, but I heard that this game was playable before. Im running it on a high end laptop and my frames are craptastic they can barely stay at 30.
Other than that the game is enjoyable, and I am pretty picky. The animations are good; they really spent their time bringing the characters to life, not just for the cinematic parts which take up most of the story mode. The character moves and combos leave a little to be desired but what really makes the gameplay dissapointing is that the framerate is worse than a lot of emulators. SO CHOPPY is the only way to describe it. I would wait to hear if they fix this before I buy this game for more than a few bucks. Right now it's not worth more than that, and even then I would consider it an "investment" that I would have to wait on. Hopefull this gets fixed. It's at horrible console port level right now. If I didn't buy games for so cheap these lemons would have me researching these titles to see how buggy they are (looking at you too, muri.)

Gameplay 3.5/5

Graphics 4/5

Story 3/5

Controls get a 0 or a 1 or w.e right now. They're ♥♥♥♥ cus the game dis below 20fps.

If the game was in better condition, I would give it somewhere between a 7 to 8 out of ten for the 5 bucks I paid for it
but If I paid top dollar it might be open the range to 6 to 8 out of ten. Get it on sale, maybe play a bit and realize it needs to be fixed and hope it gets better. do not pay more than 5 dollars until its fixed.

Been a while since I played, but last I heard the item system was still garbage, a lot of the cooler aspects got nerfed, and it's still unbalanced AF, perhaps more so.
The Idea was so great that I stayed hooked for a while, but the appeal didn't last.
It's like Archeblade, only Archeblade sucked because there were so few devs and funds, This just sucks because that's the way it is. Great idea ruined. Could have been much better. Again, it has been a while, but I have heard things have only gotten worse. The other reviews, however make me question myself. To each his own.

When I first saw this game I was in awe of it because it was like something I had waited so long for, something that combined elements from diffferent styles of gaming (platforming, shooter, fighter, and moba, essentialy) into one beautiful package. It is a beautiful game but sadly Codebrush did not have the resources to bring out its full potential, even thought they came up with the great idea to do it.

So here's the good, bad, and ugly.
This is a game that never should have been officially released; in my eyese and most every other's, it is a work in progress. It has a lot of petential and is still fun right now, but the lag may drive you insane and servers can sometimes take a minute to find. We used to joke and call this game lagblade (it is still very playable though; I still play, just need a good server,) also, all the servers must now be created by players. The maps are great but somewhat limited and there are only like 7 of them. I used to play this alot in beta; now I just dabble since they changed it so much. I am now the only level 100 I usually see in game. Still, this is a great game with a lot of potential. It is a 3d fighter highly based on juggles, and the snipers will get annoying in FFA (killstealing; we also used to joke and call it scumblade.) The only problem is that Codebrush, the company who made it, was still way too small and did not have the resources to flesh some of the balancing, netcoding, bugs, and so forth out (it is not nearly as unbalanced as some people make it out to be, it just requires skill.) Yes, I said skill; it is not pay to win and there is no grinding to a high level necessary. All you need is to know how to execute well-timed combos, which will take a little learning. The combos can be as intricate or simple as you make them, but regardless they are simple enough to combine and master somewhat quickly; the trick is learning each character's combos and style so you can fight against them, even if you don't want to fight as them. There is an interesting character for many different play styles. This game is awesomely fun and kill-streaks feel very rewarding. The combat system feels new and refreshing, as do the graphics. It is all based on a book, many elements of which did not get to be added due to lack of development resources; there was supposed to be PvE and perhaps even a story element.

I reccommend this game based on its diversity and potential. I badly want to see it worked on again. It is amazing except for the fact that it leaves something to be desired; like better netcoding and more development in general. That is all; I just wish the company had a chance to do more with it and smooth it out. Too bad codebrush went belly up. The game itself is great it just needs a little more work; and don't let that stop you from playing it. We need as many as possible to get this ball rolling again. IT actually is free to play not pay to win, but buying the characters might help fakedice get their asses working on AB =3. (less than half of Codebrush got back together to make a new company; fakedice)

Check out Jin and his team at their new project fakedice. They are doing a smaller scale type of game that is totally different from AB called Dicetiny. it seems turnbased and less fast paced, more strategic perhaps; Dicetiny seems like it might be alright, maybe, but i am mostly glad to see them back and want them to get the support they need for more AB.
