TLDR: By far the most deserving goty award. Fantastic sword mechanics and amazing story make this game an easy recommend! The difficulty is perfect for From Software veterans and offers a great mechanic change! And if you new to From Software games and are put off by the difficulty, download an easy mode mod.

This game is extremely difficult but of course, what did you expect. I have never been very good at the souls games and my "git gud" strategy has always been Dodge role and call for help with the friendly people online. You don't get that in this game but honestly you don't need it. In the truest sense of the phrase you will "git gud" in this game. In the attempt to avoid spoilers I will not reveal anything major but it seems pretty universal as soon as you pass the first third of the game, the mechanics make sense. This is a game that makes you fight one on one, and forces you to actually combat. The sword mechanics in this game feel SO DAMN GOOD! every fight feels satisfying even the basic enemies. It's hard to explain other than just play it.

As well, the modding community is amazing. I know there are a lot of people that really want to play this game but are put off by it's difficulty. I get it. If I wasn't a "veteran" of From Software games, I probably wouldn't have beaten this game. Luckily for you all there are plenty of mods out there that are "easy" mode mods to make the game less challenging but still allow you to progress and play the game as it was intended, learning the mechanics and having a blast! Or I would recommend playing Starwars: Fallen Order as the combat system is similar and is a fantastic transitioning game to Sekiro! So don't let the difficulty put you off from playing such a satisfying and story rich game!

What an absolutely incredible successor to the first game! The 3D element adds just so much more of a unique perspective on the rogue-looe genre and Risk of Rain as a whole! I was skeptical at first but I thoroughly enjoyed it after my first run! The game has a nice balance not feeling too grindy but also promoting killing in a fantastic way! Being shot by enemy's in 360 just adds another element of the fear of dying in this game! I absolutely love it and I love playing it with my friends! It's definitely hard to remember that this just hit early access! Its a solid game already and I can't wait to see where it goes! I would highly recommend getting it and definitely recommend a friend get it too! It's great solo and co-op!

The Negative Reviews on this game are very unfair. This game is absolutely wonderful and I would definitely recommend! Here are my thoughts on the game and why its not right to judge this game on the same level as Dirt Rally.

TL;DR: Its a fantastic rally game to get you up to the Dirt Rally level. If your looking for a great game to give you the skills to be competitive in Dirt Rally start here or if your looking for a great rally game, get it. If your looking for a no-forgiveness hardcore simulation then just Get Dirt Rally and build your skills for Dirt Rally 2.0.

If your car is wrapped around a tree, you're playing DiRT Rally
If your racing full boar, you're playing DiRT 4

To start, this game definately has a different feel than Dirt Rally. I remember buying Dirt Rally in the first week of early access and imediately I thought 'This is a different game'. I didn't have the same feel in Dirt 4. I felt comfortable right from the start. The opening stage was a great place to test if I liked the more arcady feel or the more simulation feel as well as the multitude of assists they have. I turned all of them off because like I said, this game isn't Dirt Rally. I completed the stage with flying times so the game told me to play on pro, so I did. Then it went through the whole 'this is car, car go fast' stuff and i kind of just glossed over that. However, the tutorial is where this game shines.

Upon reaching the "Free Style" area where you can test your cars and just mess around, they ask if you would like to do the tutorial. I chose yes to maybe see if it has any worth because you can skip it if you want. next thing you know, I am 3.5 hrs deep into learning everything about the car from how they handle to how you can just lay a fat dookie on your competition. The tutorial was so in depth, it really gave me the sense that I know how to drive every car on the market and it gave me the skills to knock seconds off my times. It was way better than anything Dirt Rally gave. It helps you learn and encourages you to make to mistakes while in an environment that wont punish you for doing so. Yes I get the argument "But you should learn on the stage, punishing you for not being perfect" but I find it completely useless when every five seconds I have my freaking car wrapped around a freaking tree because I braked a fraction of a second too late and slid on a freaking piece of gravel that had a stark vengeance on cars. The tutorial in Dirt 4 made me better, it made me more competitive. I hopped into Dirt Rally and immediately had better times. Dirt 4 not only let me feel the characteristics on all the cars, but it helped me feel the characteristics of my wheel too that I had just bought. This feature is by far one of the stand out points in Dirt 4.

Next is the career mode. It really has a way better feel than Dirt Rally. In Dirt 4 you get the sense that you start as a home brew team, where your co-driver is your friend and you manager is your dad's uncle. You start from the bottom and work your way up, starting in the straight, full shot of Michigan, and eventually end up on the world stage, building your team, firing your uncle, trusting your co-driver all through the process. It give you the sense of progression, making you proud in the team you built. It also does a good job with custom teams. It doesn't give you a starting budget. You are broke from the start, having to contract with teams that take a portion of your winnings. You continue to race as a contract driver until you make enough money to where you can start your team, or one of the various teams you raced for hires you. When you just race for a team its simple; get in a car, race fast, meet the team goals. When you make your own team you have to do everything, Manage your team, fix your cars, find your sponsors, pay for rally entry, buy your cars. You get to own and race for your team, build them up and shut down the competitors. The sense of pride with winning is way better that what Dirt Rally gives, which gives the impression your a WRC driver who just wants to go from the bottom up. In Dirt rally your skills are expected to be on the level of WRC right away, where Dirt 4 expects you to be slow from the start and expects you to get better over time.

Dirt 4 is great. I would highly recommend it for anyone who is scared of Dirt Rally or just plain sucks at it. It can give you skills that you need to be good. I noticed a difference in my skills and time. Its the first step into the realm of Rally simulation. Buy it. You Wont be disappointed.

Also the RallyCross and Land Rush is extremely fun and way less serious. Its a great way to just get your elbows out and race wheel to wheel and gives pleasurable excitement.
