I love turn-based squad tactics games, even simultaneous action ones similar to this, but the first missions feel like they're designed to kick newbies in the teeth. And the graphics are more cheap and terrible than stylized.

The game was designed for 800x600 resolution, so it looks pretty bad fullscreen. (There is a remastered version in the works.) Otherwise it's a decent Klondike solitaire game without the charm, power ups, or Scottishness of Fairway Solitaire.

Play Star Control 2 first (it's free!) so that you can tell how much they (poorly) ripped off in Mass Effect!

Yes, it's a game about working retail. No, that doesn't mean it isn't fun. Haggling with customers is surprisingly intense, since you have to balance the need to squeeze as much profit from them as possible to afford the next loan payment against the risk of them breaking your combo (robbing you of experience points for store improvements) by walking away from an insulting high offer.

You can also go Zelda-style dungeon crawling as the adventurers whom you're selling all the equipment to, but that's a dangerously low-profit waste of time during the story mode.
