Great music, great story (Yoko Taro kept himself in check this time), and most importantly great gameplay (thank platinum. Normally Taro sabotages his games with bad gameplay on purpose as a joke. I'm not kidding.)

PC port is still a bit botched. Bad framerate issues even on hardware that can blow the game out of the water. My own machine is quite powerful but I have to resort to 1280x720 windowed mode to get a decent framerate. Installing FAR can help as well, but results may and will vary.

Despite it's optimization issues and some annoyances with gameplay (meta humor/narrative making basic gameplay elements for a character action game optional is dumb), it's still a solid buy and a fun blast to play through.

You can thank me for helping you out in the end later.

It's Jackie Chan simulator.

But in all seriousness, this game has it all:

-Great, engaging plot (coming from a guy who hates organized crime stories)
-Varied and entertaining soundtrack; this includes the licensed songs that appear
-Fun, fast melee combat
-Pretty good gunplay that is easy to pick up
-Lots of great vehicle gameplay

Once I picked up this game, I couldn't put it down until I beat it.

Long Live the Queen manages to resurrect the old and partially dead genre of Life Simulation/Life Management that only still lives on in the Persona series, and "graphic novels" (read as H games, because let's face it, that's all they are.) and makes it relevant again, if only slightly.

Taking queues from Atlus' old Princess Maker Series from back on the Sega Saturn, Long Live the Queen manages to cut some of the old tedium the Princess Maker series had, and sheds it in favor of streamlined (albeit short) gameplay. Humorous situations are also abundant in this game, along with the innuendo here and there (what do you expect, you're the little girl).

Though the soundtrack may be repetitive and grating to some, it fits the mood when the need arises and the setting is VERY European/Western, as far as the high fantasy setting goes. Character design is Animu out the wazoo, but it gets the job done while leaving opportunities for very fun still images of your princess and her various emotions.

At its core, the game is really a stat management game, but the various branching paths make for a game that has much replay value, if only to see how many different ways you can die, or how far you can get. I've found myself replaying it just to see how events unfold differently with many surprises along the way. One adventure, I'm being ambushed on my way to a birthday party and died from an arrow, and another seperate playthrough I found myself having supreme military might, only to be invaded by a foreign country who decimated my forces with magic (which I was not trained in). You really never know what's going to happen outside of the first few scripted events.

All in all, Long Live the Queen is a very solid game and a much recommended buy if you're in the mood to play something that will make you laugh, or make you shout "no" at the top of your lungs because you were stabbed by an assassin.
