No other rhythm game tingles my spine like this one. It's unique.

I can't see myself playing this game much more, but figuring out how deep this game goes by pure accident--just by exploring--blew my mind. I was also high on edibles, but dudes it blew my mind. I recommend this, but go in with zero information about it.

Very few people are probably going to see this, but keep VSync on. If you're playing on a modern CPU, you're going to have a lot of problems with visuals, and, on occasion, gameplay. VSync seems to fix them. Game-breaking glitches have been an issue with Rockstar for 20+ years, so this isn't anything unexpected. But that's a fix I found.

Review of the game: Still holds up in 2022. The characters are just phenomenal. Niko is the most relatable GTA protagonist for me. I love him. I wish the driving was better. Kinda hard to get motivated to play The Lost and the Damned with the driving the way it is.

I recommend it, but with a caveat: it's extremely addicting, and if you don't want that in your life, then don't play this game. However, I'm addicted to the gameplay, not the promises of buying anything to do better in the game. I play mostly on mobile (yes I realize I have 75+ hours on steam, shut up), and as a mobile game it doesn't have the usual fremium features you get in those. There is an expansion pack you can purchase, but you can make your settings so that you play only against your cards. That way you're not playing against anyone using another deck. And then of course there's a couple cosmetic purchases. But other than that, everything else you purchase is easily purchased by earning the in game currency. It adds up quick.

A terrible game I played with a friend I hate.

Soooooo... the game's fun. It's repetitive, but fun. However, I'm not going to recommend it BECAUSE it's very grindy and is designed to drive you towards microtransactions. It's not like there's a story. It's just a grindy RPG based on DnD mechanics. You rank up your characters by earning gold. The enemies level up with you as expected, but at some point they have astronomical hit points. Meaning you either go back a level in the quest and grind for coin to level up your characters or, you buy some coin. This could end up costing you A LOT of money for a free game. So I want to discourage you from playing before playing so that you don't get addicted. Because the game is addicting. I opened it up to give it a try and stayed up until 5 am.

I should do a DnD-style warning for this:

HEED THY WARNING ADVENTURER. Thoust will find thyself grinding to the wee hours of the morn', costing you more in coin and social relationships than this "free" adventure promises on its surface. HEED THY!

I'm addicted and I still use this as a time suck to do while I'm watching YouTube or something, but EA update Franchise mode. It's gotten progressively worse over the last 10 years while you've focused on your microtransaction MUT mode. How about you actually reward your loyal customers with an updated game? I'll even wait a few years. Just give me roster updates next August and we're fine. Take a few years to make a NEW Madden.
