I normally hate the cliché saying "Oh I wish I could forget this and experience it for the first time." Mostly because I often don't feel a strong enough connection to any of the media I consume to say something as brave as that. That's why I find that notion to be a bit too extreme for most well-received games even if I enjoy them, and consider them my favorites. Also, I don't utter those words partly because I can replay most games and still enjoy them as if I am playing for the first time.

But oh boy, do I want to hit my head against the wall just to lose my memory so that I can play this masterpiece again.

This is the best game ever made, period. And here's the thing: I won't tell you why. Or rather, I cannot. That is because the game has a huge mystery, and even telling you the main gameplay mechanic of the game will be a massive spoiler. Trust me, you just have to experience it yourself.

What I can say, though, is that this is a game where there is a huge mystery that you need to solve by exploring a solar system. As you get more clues, those clues will lead you to more clues and information about the mystery. And with every piece of information you find, with every separate story piece you connect, you will get an insane feeling of satisfaction. Every single one of those things will lead you to more puzzles and mysteries to solve, and more questions to answer. But at one point, you will feel that click in your head, and that click, my friends, is the best gaming experience I had in my entire life.

Lastly, remember how I said I cannot talk about the game? There is a whole unwritten rule in the Outer Wilds community about that. If you ever feel stuck on any part of the game, don't watch a walkthrough from Youtube. Chances are, there is probably a Reddit post about your exact problem, where people give hints instead of telling you how to solve it directly. That way, you don't feel the guilt of looking for the solution, and still get the satisfaction of solving it by yourselves. Seriously, I love how thoughtful this community is.

Now, go play this game. Do not rush it, though, as you will never be able to experience this masterpiece ever again.

Leaving a negative review until they patch the optimization issues. Some of the open world bosses like Tree Sentinel are impossible to kill due to the crazy amount of stuttering and FPS drops.

Do not buy this game.

It has a story mode that can be finished in around 3 hours, and the game becomes incredibly boring and dull even after 2 hours. The lack of mechanics is really a huge problem, as the only things you can do are attack, special attack, and an ultimate attack which you can use at most 2 times per chapter. Bosses have some kind of attack patterns and mechanics, but there is no dodge, block or any kind of defensive ability, so you just need to be lucky to defeat them. There's no "get good" in this game, you just hit the same 4 types of enemies until they're dead the whole game.

Soundtrack is awful and feels incredibly out of place. In, one chapter, there's like an 8-bit nintendo song, in next, there's an epic D&D battle song. Don't get me wrong, by "epic," I mean it tries to become an epic track, but it's just as bad as other tracks in the game.

Only good thing about this game is its art and design, and even that's mediocre at best.

Shame Adobe Flash Player no longer exists, because this game is literally a browser game.

I'm just going to copy paste my review for Special Edition since they're literally the same game. However, you should definitely buy the Special Edition since it's much more stable in every way and have a cool lighting upgrade if you're not willing to use ENB.

Having played this game on various platforms and versions for well over 1000 hours, I can say two main things about Skyrim:

1- If you're new to the RPG genre (Not like those new games that is categorized as "RPG" just because they have a skill tree. Yes, I'm looking at you Witcher and Assassins Creed. ) and want to delve into a whole new world, then this game is definitely for you. It's casual enough for everyone to understand the world and story, and it doesn't have a complex mechanical structure like those old cRPGs. It's much more focused on action elements while still providing tons of roleplaying chances in an amazing setting. However, if you've played games like The Witcher 3 and expect those kinds of things, don't. In terms of story and storytelling, this game is nothing like The Witcher 3. Both main and side stories are clunky and you won't even care about them except for a few questline.

2- If you're an oldschool RPG fan who've played and liked games like Baldur's Gate, Planescape, Icewind Dale or even Dragon Age: Origins and Mass Effect, this game might not be for you. It's still a good game that you may enjoy, but don't expect anything like the games I've just mentioned. Combat is very action oriented with no room for tactics and all. Dialogue options can vary, but they're definitely not rich, it's mostly your typical "yes, no" type of options. (There's not even sarcastic yes.) However, if you're into tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons, the game gives you a HUGE chance to roleplay, even in vanilla.

There are some good amount of class and profession variations that you can do to roleplay. You want to be a merchant who only trades by wandering town to town? You can do it. You want to be a fierce warrior who earns his living by killing monsters and bandits? Sure, go ahead. You want to be an evil elf with a secret lair who secretly kills nords because of an old trauma? Hell yeah you can do that. You want to be a loving family dad while being a town guard? You might need a few console commands but yes, you can also do that. I've played this game with anything from "imma go murder every single man in this land" to "I'm just a peaceful dude who lives in a shack and sells rabbit meat" and I can easily say that every playthrough has its own delight.

Although, if you want to experience this game to the fullest, you definitely should install mods. Nearly all Bethesda games have an awesome engine in terms of mod support, so there are thousands of awesome mods for all your tastes that you can download for free and you don't even need a good PC to use most of them.

Overall, awesome game with a lot of opportunity for roleplaying, albeit with a mediocre gameplay/story.

8/10 in Vanilla.
11/10 with mods.

Every person has a special game in their heart, that changed their whole life. A game that you want to play for the rest of your life. A game that you want to learn every aspect of its lore. For many of people, that game is a Baldur's Gate game, an Elder Scrolls game, or a The Witcher game. For me, that game is Dragon Age: Origins.

This game is the best RPG game I've ever played. Not because it has some deep combat mechanics or something, but because this game had a soul.

Today, even newer Assassin's Creed games are considered as "RPG." But they're not. This is what a true RPG is. Every choice you make somehow affects the world. You feel like you can change everything in the game. It's been 11 years since the game released, but people still discover new things about it.

Story

Story is a simple story that you can expect from a BioWare game. You're the last person of a faction called Grey Wardens, heroes that sacrifice themselves against the greater evil. You need to stop the darkspawn that wants to conquer the Ferelden, and eventually, the whole world. There's nothing special about the story. Except, it feels special. There are many divided storylines throughout the game and every one of them is perfectly written. Not just they're perfectly written, you can change every aspect of that storylines. You ever played a RPG game and said "Hey, my character would say xxx, why there are no dialogue options for that?" Well, you won't say that in Dragon Age: Origins. You didn't like the quest that involves you to kill some werewolves? Go side with werewolves and kill the quest givers. You don't want to kill either side? Make them make peace with each other. Or just go and kill werewolves. Game offers every option for you.

Characters

This is, I think, the strongest aspect of the Dragon Age: Origins. You venture many adventures with couple of companions of your choice. There are 8 (+1 secret companion) possible companions in the base game, (in which, you can romance with four of them) and they're all unique characters. They all have perfectly written backstories with personal companion quests. You can talk many things with them. Not some boring dialogues like many other RPG's has, they're really well-written and you wish to talk to them more. You feel bad when they're upset. You feel good when they're happy. You give them gifts to make them happy. They really became your family.

Gameplay

If you're into real time combat games like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape: Torment, you will like the gameplay of this game. There's a deep tactical screen that allow you to make many tactics for you and your companions. This game is very hard, (even on the easy difficulty) if you don't play smartly. You must think wisely to choose from many classes and specializations to create a synergistic team. And it is so satisfying when you see the tactics you spend so many time to prepare perform perfectly.

Only negative thing about the gameplay is probably the variety of enemy types. Halfway in the game, you see nearly all the enemy types, and you fight with them rest of the game.

Setting

Dragon Age takes place in a dark, gloomy, grim, high-fantasy world. I know I've used the words "well-written" or "perfectly-written" so much, but there're no other words to describe this beautiful setting. You can easily tell that developers are building this world for many years to make one of the most detailed lore of video game history. Pages of codex, lore, history... You're not obligatory to read them as the game tells everything in dialogues, but they sure does add a flavor to game.

Soundtrack

There's nothing to say about it. Inon Zur is always killing it. Still listening the OST, even to this day.

Overall, as the BioWare says, this is the perfect successor of the Baldur's Gate series. 10/10.

I'm not much of a platformer player, but this game is hands down, the best platformer game I've ever played. You don't see very often that an indie game competed with the games such as Read Dead Redemption 2, God of War, AC: Odyssey and Spider-Man in the Game Awards. I can easily say that Celeste was by far the best game among all the nominees, and trust me, I've played every one of them except for RDR2. (UPDATE AFTER 5 MONTHS: I've played RDR2 as well. Celeste is still unbeaten.)

Story looks very simple at the beginning. A girl named Madeline tries to climb a mountain. It's a simple story that you'd expect from a platformer game, right?

Wrong.

As you try to pass all the tough levels and chapters, you're beginning to realize that this is not a story about climbing a mountain. It's a story about overcoming your depression, your anxiety and your fear. As you progress through the game, Madeline constantly ignores her inner self, which resembles her fear, anxiety and depression. She just rans away from it, like all of us do in our lives.

I want to shout-out to level design here, because the longer Madeline ignores her feelings, the harder the chapters get. It gets so hard that you want to quit the game, but you remember the very first line the game told you. "You can do this." And you try harder and harder.

Once you overcome your desperation, depression and anxiety, the levels feel easier. It's not becoming easier by any means, on the contrary, it becomes much HARDER. Harder than nearly all the platformer games out there. However, the game gives you the feeling of improving so well that you feel confident and feel like you'll pass all the challenges the game throws at you. And you do too. Even someone like me, who hates hard games like Soulsborne, keeps trying to overcome every challenge.

I'm 90 hours into the game as I write this review, but I still couldn't beat all the challenges. Sure, I beat the 100% of the game, but like a masochist, I try to get 114%, which seems nearly imposible. Way harder than 112% of Hollow Knight. But I feel like I'll betray the game if I don't pass every challenge the game offers.

As for gameplay, it's like the story of the game. Simple at the beginning, advanced at the end. Mechanics are comprised of three basic elements. Jump, grab, and dash. Of course there's more to that, but the game won't tell you advanced techniques until you've finished the game. Sure, you can discover this mechanics in your normal playthrough, (and you'll definitely discover some of them by your own) but levels don't require for you to use those advanced techniques. It requires for only 100% and 114%.

And the mechanics are so freaking smooth! Unlike many other platformer, you really feel like you have the full control over your character. Ever died in a game and said "I hate this game! I pressed ctrl but my character crouched so late!" Yeah, you won't say that in this game. Controls are so timely and consistent. Also everything is pixel-perfect. So, if you died, that's on you.

And lastly, the soundtrack. Shout-out to Lena Raine for her masterpiece music. There couldn't be more suitable tracks for the atmosphere of the game. Music changes in every chapter and all the tracks reflect their chapters theme and story so well. You'll listen it over and over, even if you spent hours to the game and heard the all of the soundtrack thousands of times.

Overall, 11/10. 2018's Game of the Year.
