Look, I really REALLY love this game, and you also will if you love Myst since this game took a real lot of inspiration from it. The puzzles are mostly fine, some better and more creative than Myst, others barebones. But this port is horrendous. They did fix the price tag problem at least and now the price is fair... In theory, since the game has even more bugs than the Epic version! Aside from the bugs that I got from the Epic version, which involved getting softlocked THREE TIMES, the intro video disappears and you can only hear its noise, which wouldn't be an issue if the game didn't keep freezing at random at some puzzles or cutscenes. I can't even get past Binah and the fact that most cutscenes are unskippable makes it worse. I'm still on the fence on whether or not I ask for a refund since this is unacceptable but, since this release is recent, they may fix it soon, who knows.

The gameplay is unbalanced, the pacing is terrible and the story makes no sense.

Now that I have this game on Steam I can write my opinions on it here.

When I discovered the existence of this game I was mad at it after finding out it had one single level through the entire game and it was randomly generated. I avoided it for a while until I finally played FES on the PS2 to give it a chance because why not lol. It was actually fun in the beginning despite its flaws (will go back to it later) because the story was actually keeping me going.

That was until I was like 60% through the game and realized the story was... Kinda bad, and that its pacing is just trash. You wait for AGES until something happens and when it does it ends in the blink of an eye and everything goes back to normal, and most of the cutscenes are played in some random bits of the playthrough in the most random possible days, making the climax kind of redundant and returning you to the same boring gameplay you gotta deal with for the entire game.

Oh yeah the gameplay! As I said before I didn't really like the gameplay because of the randomly generated dungeon stuff, and because it's just one level for the entire game. Well I still didn't really like it but I tolerated it because the mechanics felt fun, until it got way too repetitive and didn't. The mid bosses were also unjustifiably hard and required some RNG and a lot of grinding, there are far too many of them which added some extra 10 hours to my gameplay despite me playing it on fast forward and not being fully able to control your characters didn't help at all (the main bosses, however, are actually pretty well made, thought out and fun to fight against, as they're not unfairly difficult like the mid bosses and have some interesting mechanics). Oh yeah you cannot control your party members which makes some of these mid bosses take way longer to beat than they should. The game was also the persona game to introduce the "your main character dies = game over" mechanic which, combined with the existence of insta kill spells, simply makes the game far worse to play and I have no idea what the devs were thinking, specially considering this mechanic is still implemented in later personas.

I started rushing it at some point and stopped caring about the social links but I just gotta say that the best one is the old couple PERIOD.

Also, the soundtrack. I have seen a lot of people praising it but in my opinion it's mostly made out of mediocre and severely repetitive songs, except for some ones which I actually enjoyed a lot (like "master of shadows" and the velvet room song that would be used in the later personas and the psp persona 2 ports). I consider the soundtrack to be a massive downgrade from persona 2 from start to finish: the intro, the "overworld" theme, tartarus' theme, the boss themes, the final boss theme... Everything.

And finally, P3P. I just gotta say that turning the entire game minus tartarus into a playable PNG was the laziest thing they could've done and made the game far worse. They could've turned everything into persona 2-ish sprites but no, they had to go through the visual novel route.

"But then why did you buy it????"
Simple: I didn't, it was a gift. A friend of mine asked me if I wanted a game and this was on a special offer, he said he had some spare money he wanted to spare and I said "f it" and chose this game + the binding of isaac.

Anyways this is just my opinion and my experience with the game. I'll not dislike you if you enjoy the game, in fact I hope you have/had a positive experience with it, so be respectful.
