I'm YIIKING out!

The camera movement is jerky and in combination with the rapidly changing colors, the game made me physically ill at times. The battle mechanic is better but still like, really weird. Story is entirely incomprehensible (which I guess is the point) but the 2 hour experience makes so little sense that it's hard to know what you're even playing the game for.

Fun, difficult, and very nostalgic.

With mods and custom songs, this is the best VR experience you can have. Amazingly fun to play due to the simple mechanics yet very high skill ceiling--you can always improve (and even get a good workout in while doing it).

Without mods, this game is practically worthless. You get like, a minuscule amount of songs, and if you want more, you have to pay like $100+ dollars for tiny song packs. What really makes this awful though is the fact that every time the greedy developers update the game with another song pack from the current trash pop artist of the week, they deliberately break the game in a way that forces mod developers to update, leaving you stranded in terrible-game land while you wait for the only saving grace of the entire scene, the modders, to thanklessly update their plugins.

When people who... sail the seven seas... have a better experience with the game because it doesn't auto update through Steam, you know something is wrong. The developers, even before this game was bought by Facebook, could have just put in a little extra effort to make sure that the modding community for this game wasn't such a one sided relationship. But they didn't--and that's why I can't fully recommend this game.

TL;DR: buy the game, install BeatSaber UpdateSkipper to stop Steam from auto-updating it, and install mods that make the game actually worthwhile.
