You may look at this and based on the graphics, overlook it. But when I was young this was one of my all time favourite games and it still is. At the same time Half Life was hitting shelves, so was Omikron. An expansive sandbox with (at the time) amazing graphics, coupled with driving, arcade fighting, RPG elements and even FPS stages, it had everything. It even features a soundtrack containing custom work by David Bowie (not to mention an in-game cameo as well). The body switching is a great touch which compliments the great story and expansive locations. This thing came on 3 CD's at the time, it was HUGE. When Quantic Dream finally release a sequel, many people will be happy.

While I'm recommending this game. Keep in mind that it is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. But I'm recommending it because I paid less than $5, it's Duke Nukem and surprisingly I've kept playing it. Despite being as bad as it is, it has a lot of the old charm of Duke Nukem 3D. I can see that this game was rushed out and could have been amazing as some parts are extremely polished, but most are lackluster. The graphics are ancient, the levels virtually empty, half the gameplay is absurdly stupid, the voice acting can't really be called acting and it's the most sexist games I've ever played. But because it's so bad, you just have to play it. If not for any other reason than a quick way (on easy) to bump up your achievement stats on Steam.

This game was some of the most fun I've had in a while. Upon starting it, I spent the first couple of hours getting a good laugh before being sucked into the story. The art direction has kept the game looking good after all these years and the soundtrack as you can imagine is AMAZING. I didn't mind the RTS elements, although I did find them a tad under developed and I was extremely disappointed when the game ended. Not because the ending was bad or anything (although the game itself was a little short), the ending was great, but the game ended. I want more please. If a sequel is ever announced, I'm all over that.

Having followed the development of this game years ago and being extremely excited for the facial animations and detective aspect of the game and I finally got around to purchasing it.

People may despise the apparent lack of freedom compared to GTA, for example, you can't run around killing random civilians.

However, I'm absolutely loving L.A. Noire. The 50's aspect works great and it really takes you back to simpler times. The facial animations are as good as they say (I find it doesn't wander over into the uncanny valley), but you can tell the game is a few years old based on the graphics.

I'd recommend anyone with a fondness for the older times jump in and explore as well as anyone who wants a more down to earth GTA where you play as the good guy and solve puzzles.
