This is a time machine to the original games but with better graphics. It's simultaneously amazing and goofy. I love it.

I bought this before official release and I still come back for the story updates. Survival mode is also extremely fun. It's a different type of survival horror game but don't think that its lack of zombies or whatever makes it less scary. The fact that the biggest threats are more mundane things, like water, spraining your ankle, or not finding shelter before you get hypothermia honestly makes the game more scary, because how are you supposed to fight nature?

If you've seen the trailers and are thinking of getting the game, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
