It's a super fun game. Just hard to find a full lobby. Also - I personally think the price is fair for the quality of the game you're getting, but 20 bucks is a hard sell when there's nobody playing it. Definitely pick up while on sale.

Played for 1.3 hours and never had the urge to go back. All I can remember about this game is that it got kind of annoyingly difficult and repetitive. The visuals are beautiful and the concept is great, but the execution didn't feel right to me. The movement doesn't feel flexible enough (after playing Titanfall and Apex ... This left something to be desired)- almost like you are mostly on-rails and the actual gameplay is more about precision timing and strategy, which is fine for some people I guess but didn't really cut it for me. I think to enjoy this you have to be super into the aesthetic ***and*** want to grind a single player campaign that contains challenging puzzles and execution.

i might be biased because i've always found outer space fascinating, but I think this is game of the year material right here. probably the most beautiful game i've ever played. do not miss this one folks.

This review is for the co-op experience only. Here's some reasons thus far that I DO NOT recommend this game (at full price). I will update this review if finishing the campaign changes my mind.

1. Seems to be a bug where the floating names over your team-mates heads disappears which makes them blend in with the shadowy enemy figures and you can't tell who is who. Happens constantly and is by far the most frustrating thing about playing this game in co-op.
2. The starting difficulty is entirely trivial, and enemies are boring. Literally haven't had to think about what I'm doing once in first playthrough. Just pick up orange guns, point them at the bad guys, and pull the trigger. They all die, the end. (Including bosses). This is also ONLY doing the story missions by the way (and no side quests).
3. There is so... much... dialogue, and running/driving around, and looting and vending. I think combat in this game is somewhere around 25% of time spent in-game. The other 75% is all that other crap. Gets old quick considering the next point...
4. The story in this game is not engaging at all, and doesn't feel like it connects with anything that you're actually doing. It also feels void of any and all moral character and just plays out like you would imagine a story written by a 5 year old might. I've all but entirely ignored it.
5. Lastly is the loot. There was an attempt made to add a "score" system to the loot so you can tell what guns are upgrades and what guns are trash. This system does not work. I had a level 7 legendary pistol I kept well into the 20's which was scoring about 1/3 of some of the purples I was vending. Pretty quickly we realized only legendary weapons are worth keeping around unless they are literally 15 levels behind the purples you are picking up. Normally by then you've got new legendaries, so basically 95% of the loot is just actual vendor trash.

This game essentially side-grades BL2 by trading memorable story moments, real campaign difficulty, and well designed enemy characters for better gun animations, better movement, and a co-op level/XP re-scaling feature for playing with friends of vastly disparate levels. If it's on sale for $15 or $20, maybe worth it.

Side note: It is funny that Borderlands 2 was the first game I reviewed on steam. Now here we are and this is what 2020 had to offer.

This game was worth the time and money spent on it so far. Introductory experience is all I can really comment on, but that is enough for me to know I like the game for a bit of casual fun. This is how video games should be. No paywall, no loot-grind barriers, no extreme performance requirements for your PC, no bs. Just a really fun and novel shooter which works great for in-house type lobbies or casual matchmaking.

Crazy (and sometimes hilarious) things happen in this game as and outcome of the time-loop, which really sets it apart from other "shooters". There's all kinds of new terminology and strategies to wrap your head around here, which is so rare to find these days in the vast ocean of copy & pasted games out there with only refinements to the mechanics and aesthetics setting things apart. Outside of getting stomped in my first two matches, I think every following game was actually quite close and often came down to the last round and sometimes there were several draws in succession leading up to an epic finish. Not enough games use these round-based formats which allow back-and-forth consecutive playstyle adjustments from start to finish against the same opponents, with the only persistent advantages or disadvantages being the learned playstyle knowledge from the other team itself. Being able to adjust strategy from round to round is key, so my only complaint here is that the causual 2v2 mode is only best-of-3, rather than best-of-5 which is how it should be.

With this time-loop system being so new, I assume it will be hard to nail down the exact format to make it balanced at a competitive level. But honestly, who knows... there's so few people playing there could be a gold-mine hidden below the surface here and if you don't get in and play we'll never expose it for the true potential it has. So get in on it while it's fresh!

This game feels to me like like a $20 space-dino wallpaper simulator. After a single session, I decided to go for a refund. The only thing it has going is the looks - nice dino-gore, and the environment looks good and it runs smoothly.

Everything else is mediocre at best.

I bought this game under the impression that it would have solid gunplay, and not expecting much else. What I found was a very underwhelming introductory experience. Right out of the gate, I was disappointed with how the movement & guns felt. Movement was fast, but unpolished and slow to respond. Mouse aiming feels like aim acceleration was on. Guns felt slow to respond, ADS takes forever, iron sights were terrible, and enemies mostly just felt like bullet sponges and I couldn't be bothered to care about any of the enemies mechanics. Just kinda hip-fired until everything was eventually dead. Ammo and HP resupplies were seemingly infinite and you couldn't spend them as fast as you could get them, further enabling this behavior.

The objectives and teamwork mechanics were not even close to the competition in this genre. The skills felt tacked on rather than well thought out. Kind of forgot they were there half the time. The objectives were the usual stuff... go here, blow this up, click this thing, then click that thing, etc. but you're really just running around shooting dinos... lots and lots and lots of dinos. The objectives felt more like a way to force players to run around the map rather than just fight the dinos in one spot.

On top of all that, you're forced into a grind to level up your weapons and unlock new guns, and I couldn't be bothered.

I might have supported this game if it was launched for $10 or less just to see where it goes. At $20-$25, no way.

not much of a horror game person but this one had great reviews and 4 player coop so i had to try it. 10/10 most emotional response i've had playing a video game in a long time. absolutely terrifying and a great co-op experience.
