Really fun game but a punishing game likes this needs a lot more polish. It can be pretty buggy every now and then and completely kill your run. Like when I set down my backpack to get an item out and it just suddenly flings into the lava. Or the many many times where I grab my friend's helping hand and it just doesn't pull me up... It usually works, but often it'll either just not pull me up and i fall to my death or it pulls my friend down for whatever reason. I really hope to change this to a positive review once issues like this are fixed.

WHY IS THIS GOOD????

I was immediately addicted to this game the second I opened it. I kinda internally make fun of games that are advertised as being "cozy" or whatever as it feels like a cheap tagline, but that's what this game is. This is one of the comfiest experiences you'll ever have with a game. Everyone i've interacted with is extremely chill, just sitting there and reeling in fish feels nice both as a background activity or front and center in your head, and idk it's just very pleasant all around. Play this with your friends or something it's very cheap.

Last year was the release of the game "SKIBIDI BACKROOMS" and it was one of my favorite game releases last year. Was the game awful? Yes, it was ass. Skibidi Backrooms is steam shovelware slop, but it was also kind of funny and became sort of an inside joke between me and some friends. So when a sequel was announced, I was ecstatic! So how did it turn out?

Well the gameplay shift was very jarring. We went from a puzzle focused horror experience to a tower climbing game? Well I'm very familiar with games like Getting Over It, Peaks of Yore, and Juke's Towers of Hell so it's not like this is new ground for me, just an interesting direction to take the franchise. Yet I ended up pleasantly surprised! While not perfect, the climbing mechanics are solid and still made scaling the structures an entertaining experience. It was definitely more thrilling gameplay than Skibidy Backrooms' admittedly dull gameplay. However the game starts to falter when you reach the higher up areas. The difficulty curve grows extremely steep and the game's inconsistent jank physics make it a miserable experience lategame. However unlike something like Getting Over It, there's no interesting commentary about the difficulty. I don't feel myself improving as I keep throwing myself at the same obstacles, I just wonder what BS way the game is going to throw me back down is this time. With that aside, the early game is still very fun. I enjoyed trying to race up the mountain with a friend of mine. The ledge grab is weirdly very generous and it makes a strangely fun experience as you try to wrap your head around how it works.

Overall how is the game? It's okay. If you missed out on your chance to buy Only Up while it was still on Steam, this is an okay enough substitute. This game is definitely a huge improvement over Skibidi Backrooms and is worth playing if you enjoyed that game for some reason. On the other hand, would I recommend it to normal people? Nah this game is still shovelware slop, there's way better games you can get for 5$

I hope the developers continue their endeavors with the Skibidi series of games and continue taking it in new and exciting directions.

So as a rhythm game, it's very good! The charting is great, the controls are basic but feel very good, it's a fun video game. Everything else surrounding that is... not as good. The aesthetics are kind of cute i guess but it feels like it's forcing the whole "kawaii" thing so hard that it just feels sickening. The game is so incredibly loud, it's trying to be as loud as a rhythm arcade game but it's not blasting through arcade speakers it's blasting through my headphones jesus christ my ears hurt. The music selection is very underwhelming and not a lot that I'd wanna listen to outside of the game. It's all very hyper pop-y stuff with little variety. There's more variety if you buy the DLC but... I'm not gonna pay 35$ for all that I'm sorry. I think you used to be able to buy song packs separately which would've been way better if I want only Touhou songs or something, but no I have to blow 35$ on this game that I'm already not liking that much so... no thanks. If you're itching for a rhythm game, you can do better than this unfortunately.

Very fun character, but she's VERY difficult to play as. Just missing a beat will make you take damage, making her one of the most difficult characters in the game. If you're not too skilled and you wanted to buy this, maybe don't. It would've been nice if it had two characters, like Rin Kagamine or something, and said second character is easier to work with.

EDIT: After playing as Miku quite a bit more, both with rhythm on and off, a few other issues have come up. If you slide on ice, you'll take damage with no way to avoid it, so if you land on a long stretch of ice you basically lose. Headless skeletons will sometimes still attack you when you attack them. There's a really common problem where you'll dash through an enemy and then get sniped by something that was completely offscreen beforehand. This is not very well balanced.

totally outing myself as a weirdo for buying this and leaving a genuine positive review on this game but i kinda loved it. very sweet story, put a lot of interesting thoughts in my head, has a mouse.
