I love this game! Tight technical platforming with a whimsical and fun style. It's sincere in its reference to retro 3D platformers like ray man, crash bandicoot, super mario 64, glover, banjo kazooie, etc. For what it lacks in length it makes up for in engaging level design, funny dialogue, good music, and a weird story.
The game gives you nearly all the tools at the start and you get to learn them through solving puzzles and applying your knowledge. The music and animations are incredibly charming and there was clearly a lot of heart put into it. If you liked Pseudoregalia, you would love this game too!

I've always been a bit of a snob when it comes to Silent Hill games. In my opinion, all of the games made after SH4 were pretty bad and did not understand the assignment at all. From questionable design choices and misused elements to a complete dilution of what was a complex and narratively rich storyline to low-quality jumpscare edgy tripe, nearly all of them are abysmally bad.

Classic SIlent Hill 2 is one of my all-time favourite games. It's easily in my top 3, and I've played a **lot** of games. That being said, I find this to be a shockingly loyal and respectful remake. The VA work is top-notch, the model redesigns are respectful to the original game while adding a modern spin, the cutscene puppeteering and sound design are premium, and the monsters are fleshed out and feel very unique from other types. There are many situations that have been expanded upon; new dialogue added, more complicated boss encounters and exploration progression, some entirely new dialogue scenes. All of it feels empowering to the existing lore and none of it feels out of place. I could go on at length about how well the devs understood the assignment, or about how well they understood what made the original SH2 a masterpiece.

There are a few flaws to this game. The program itself isn't well optimized and some settings need to be turned down even for higher-end systems. Combat animations are a bit wonky and at times difficult to read. There is ONE puzzle that I consider the dumbest thing (think SH5 Homecoming cheesy/goofy) in the alternate hospital. All these flaws are forgivable, however, in light of how fantastic the entire experience of this game is.

My final synopsis:
This is an S-tier game that can be played with or without the original. It is not a replacement; the original adds additional lore and a context for many of the references made. But if this is the only version of SH2 someone plays, I consider that perfectly good.

This game's really fun! It's basically an easier first-person Nethack. The voxel style and crunchy animations are satisfying and endearing, while the variety of items and map particles make for a lot of replayability. The 2.5D is pulled off well.

It can be frustrating at times. This is a game where a few hours of effort can end very suddenly in some stupid mistake. That being said, you can learn to look out for nearly anything that can kill you, and you can finish this game no matter what the odds are or how bad your RNG was with treasure.

It's very easy to mod. I've made several skin mods with little effort. There are helpful community guides that cover all the details of the process, so you can, too!

Plus, you can play as goats. What more do you want?

DoD is a classic rogue-like that feels very much like a re-imagined Nethack, with new jokes and several systems tacked on. This game is heavy with micromanagement and RNG-determined runs. The addition of crafting mechanics to a true rogue-like game increases the knowledge & experience levels required to have consistently satisfying runs, as you won't begin knowing what tools & supplies are worthwhile, or what much of anything does. It isn't a very friendly game to newcomers! That being said, if you're looking for a complicated, cerebral, tactical game, this one's stellar. Great time sink.

Attention grabbing & shock value through racist trash. Poor method of labeling people as antagonists, as we the consumers & players have to wade through offensive caricatures and ♥♥♥♥ voice actors were paid to say to get the message that violent responses to oppressive violence are inappropriate. Bad writing! Poor characterisation.

Ragnarok Online has existed for so long that it's difficult to tell whether people play it for the content or the nostalgia. More recent updates have made this game heavily pay-to-win, though one can still feasibly experience the entire game without investing real money into it.

The graphics are pretty primitive and haven't seen much development over the last... 14 years, and many of the translations are pretty awkward. The skill system and combat are easy to understand and enjoyable, the art is cute and personal to the series, and some of the paths you can build toward with your characters are enjoyable to explore.

The economy is alive and doing fairly well, though it's highly dependent on cash-shop items. Most of the game past the first 40 levels is straight up grinding, though it's mitigated by the turn-in quests that anybody can do. Unless you're dedicated, I don't advise playing the extreme high levels without VIP access, which can be acquired via real money or in-game quest rewards. I don't personally pay for VIP and don't feel that it meaningfully increases the level of enjoyment to be had.

If you're primarily into more recent games, I'd advise against trying this out, If you enjoy group games with friends and complex item and economy systems, it's pretty fun.

Reminiscent of older card-centric adventure games, Card City Nights carries you through a self-aware and contrived adventure to collect eight unique pieces from different bosses, and to challenge a final boss for a defined reward. The card game itself is fun and varied, and leaves many opportunities for customising one's own deck. While a direct and offensive tactic can be used to beat most opponents, each uses different strategies that can seriously complicate such an approach, making it optimal to research tactics and learn more about the individual card synergies.

There is no penalty for losing and always a reward for winning, so it's very much so a gentle game for those who may be unfamiliar with battling card games in general, making it playable and appealing for new or veteran players alike.

The music is enjoyable and adds flavour to the already living world, and the artwork is unforgettable and appealing, in that "trying hard to look like it isn't trying hard" way. The palette choices and composition are aesthetically pleasing and give the world a setting all its own, despite borrowing elements from many other games that the developers have made. The default gender for the player character and most npcs is female, with most characters being confident and punkish, breaking the common representation of female characters in video games as passive, mousey, and largely helpless.

I loved this game every moment that I played it, and though it can be frustrating to find an opponent who is difficult to beat, that just requires more familiarity and effort with your deck. It's seriously a steal at its price.

Many different characters combined with highly randomised dungeons and powerups lead to an immensely replayable game, and the horrid aesthetic is just poop-frosting on the poop-cake. There's so much poop, you forget it's even poop.

Ridiculously brutal and easy to play for a little while, or a long while.
