Oh, to be a soft little kitty committing soft little crimes.

A short and sweet gem... and somehow I'm left with a strange nostalgia for Half-Life and Untitled Goose Game.

10/10 will nap with again.

Early Access Review
This game is basically Banished 2.0 with Fallout flavoring (and I mean that in a good way).

I'm really hoping the devs add more end-game content that lets you move away from constantly needing an endless supply of scrap and into a tech tree or building set that allows for a more sustainable city (here's my vote for a post apocalyptic solar-punk society!), but the game is decently playable as-is.

Early Access Review
For a game that's so rough and solidly in early-access development phase, Foundation is shockingly playable. A lot of the current game mechanics are incomplete, opaque, or downright confusing, but the city building aspect is both relaxing and intriguing enough that those flaws lead to amused bafflement rather than rage-quitting frustration. Like I still can't figure out why my citizenry seem to demand 3X the amount of clothing as any other resource (maybe the nobles burn outfits after each use??? if so, fair), but a naked citizenry will still build you a stunning monastery on a seaside cliff so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

DON'T Buy In Early Access: If you want polished city builder where the fun is in managing your resources and supply chains and building up an army to defend your city. This is no Pharaoh/Caesar (...yet).

DO Buy In Early Access: If your favorite part of Banished is relaxing into the music and designing a city that blends in with the landscape. If you loved city-building in Lionhead's Black and White you will be delighted by Foundation.

Don't Starve is basically the survival aspect of MineCraft, married with some beautiful Nightmare-Before-Christmas-style graphics and humor.

I honestly hate how much I like it. It's tailor-made and precisely-tuned to appeal to all of your base gamer instincts: collect, upgrade, survive, kill, fill in the dark areas of an autogenerated map. At the moment it's mostly a sandbox game where you strive to survive in a harsh wilderness as long as possible (death being a permanent event that makes you start over from the beginning), but it looks like the developers are in the process of adding an Adventure Mode to mix things up.

When you buy the game you get access to the beta in Steam, which currently gets updated every 2 weeks. The game is definitely under heavy tweakage, but this is actually a good thing as far as I'm concerned - it means there's a fun new feature set (and some needed fixes) everytime you start to get bored of dying.
