Played HD 1 and it was awesome. Inshort, if you like, FPS, you like, 3 different factions (3rd faction hasn't been introduced yet), then you'll love this game. Humans (super earth) VS all else. A unique twist on the fps genre, with the right amount of chaos, friendly fire, and teamwork, to ensure its enjoyable. Not as much micro transactions as the first HD, but there is alot of players. Personally you like chaotic fps games, this is your game.

Highly addictive, able to run it on the high end version of the GPD pocket 3, and my old laptop from 8yrs ago with a GTX 680MX, i7, and 16gb ram. Awesome, also able to run it with out issues on other gaming hardware. That aside,

Enjoyable, bought this for myself and my daughter. We love playing it together, and its a massive world, that definitely fills multiple nitches. Needs a much larger crafting system, better pals base management (or micro management feature, where we can better queue up priorities), and better guild upgrade system (Guild is the palbox base structure). Updating this portion, has local authenticated AND unauthenticated multiplayer (IE you can repack the application and play on other machines in a multiplayer environment, it IS DRM FREE thank you DEVS!), that said, you still need the palworld server if your hosting a multiplayer private experience. Use steam command/steam account to download it, and your good to go. Otherwise alot of fun otherwise gets a 4/5 because, it fits all my tastes but mainly because, the public servers are script kitty/hacker playground. Avoid Public multiplayer for now, and use private servers, closed communities (check their discord) and you'll have a much better online Multiplayer experience. That said.. 1 of my 3 kiddos love it too (the other 2 i haven't introduced too it yet)

Inshort, i was drawn to the game because of the both simple and complex gameplay availability.

That said, there is a few different "campaigns" for story mode, alongside infinite gameplay, and it matters how you do in missions.

What resources you mine, and what ships you build, carry over to other missions. IE mission 1, i build up a ton of ships.
Mission 2, those surviving ships carry over to the other mission in addition TO being able to carry over the resources.
Speaking of resources, there is a upgrade system in place so you can use those extra resources you hoard for bonuses.
Do i wish there is more to it? Absolutely, but for the first iteration of this game, it gets a thumbs up in my book.

I wish it had multiplayer though, would add for much more complex teamwork/skirmish like gameplay (with local lan).

Also some pro tips, Don't listen to the missions, farm farm farm, if it says get 10 fighter ships, then don't build 10, so the mission won't end abruptly. The first mission, do not complete all objects so you can farm as much resources as possible. Seems this is something done to gate you from figuring out till after you put two and two together for such a strategy. If you do complete the campaigns meeting the mission completion requirements, you'll actually struggle. Otherwise, you'll be steam rolling through the game altogether due to having available ships, and built up resources.

Build turrets in the first mission, you'll use them later on, trust me you want them built up. Anywho

I am a bit miffed i can't replay/farm some levels in story mode to help make things easier, so the previous advise aforementioned will be the only saving grace you have, especially if you play on hard.

All this said, the devs have stated this game will come to gog at some point, so i bought it on steam, eager for the release on gog so i can just rebuy there for offline gameplay.

Some things not intuitive would be for example, exiting out of commands or menus. Everything uses Escape just about to back out of commands, actions, options.

Issuing orders doesn't always work, and your units will frequently suicide themselves at enemies. IE you select a group of units order all to attack one unit, and they'll fly right into the enemy center mass AND THEN attack, after receiving significant damage. A bit of a concern given how the game tries to penalize you for not fully understanding the entire games build up/farming mechanic. Might wanna fix that devs. As thats a great way to drive anyone away from a otherwise promising game.

All and all i give this a game a so-so. Due to the issues mentioned above and the gameplay experience. Yeah its fun, because i know what im doing, but if i didn't, i'd be hecka mad because of fighting against the game mechanics just to play, and then struggling with the headache that is resource farming (and how missions end once you complete all objectives). its cool its not time based, but its not cool, because once you hit that mission complete, its a make or break moment, and can severely hamper future mission gameplay.

I cannot recommend this game due to my existing experience.

If it comes to mobile, might be more bareable, UI is also slow and cumbersome to move (even with the map quick focus) because of how much of a headache it is to move. Command & conquer games handle this by allowing rapid screen scrolling using the mouse, as a tickable option. If this was a feature, i didn't see it during my 8hr play through.

Saying this is fun is a understatement. If you like team coordinated games, this is your game. If you like playing solo, this can also be your game (solo w/robot companion). It feels balanced enough as is. And hectic enough to really enjoy.

Pros:
- Teamwork is dreamwork
- Solo is possible but seems gimped (drones nothing compared to 3 other live human players)
- VOIP is integrated, no lag or issues awesome job!
- Game runs butter smooth
- EXP/progression system for equipment upgrades
- Overwhelming amount of DLC, great to support devs

Cons:
- Teamwork is dreamwork
- GPU spikes hardcore from GTX 1050-GTX 1080TI, the heat is nuts, and so is the GPU overall usage which can lead to lag if proper cooling isn't utilized (on win10 x64 and win11 x64)
- Disgusting level of DLC/content for cosmetics. almost 100+ w/out discounts.

This is a Early access review, so treat it as such.

I Seen this was on GOG and pretty much started playing the GOG build. That said, don't mis-interpret my play time, i've sank like 9hours as of this writing.

Longstory short, the game is tedius. Resource harvesting, is so unbelievably bland and unfun that it really kills the experience for me. That said though, the game is going in the right direction, they just need to make resource harvesting and automation to harvest especially "early game" less tedious so that its not more of a chore to play than it is to enjoy.

So all in all, check it out, look at the demo first. The game does has potential once the glaring problem of resource harvesting grind is less grueling and unfun.

Im suggesting this game as not recommended (despite buying on steam & gog) at this time.

This game is quite amazing. First and fore most, this game is about time, effort, and knowledge. If you know the game like any rpg, you will rapidly excel. Otherwise it will be a painful grinding experience, with a story of course. Keep in mind the core part of this game is PvP. Besides vampires, cool and all, the world feels alive, like a living breathing ecosystem. Even if you do nothing the enemies and different factions skirmish amongst themselves. And recognize greater threats (yourself or stronger opponents). This is a wonderful thing.

That said, remember, this games core principal is to be played with PvP with out it you'll get bored fast after you get tired of the grinding and storyline. That said...

Levels are tied to gear. In essence you could in a few minutes max level your friends. Thats a big deal, and not a big deal depending on how you play this game.

Soloing is promoted but so is team work. Keep that in mind if you buy this, otherwise i'd avoid it like the plague because you'll just hate the heck out of it if you know nothing of reading instructions and building your own server (for solo play).

One more quip... games heavily tied to "Time in service", meaning the world being a living breathing eco system, time in the world pays off. But... thats per server basis. So if you don't have folks to help you in the beginning it wll be a nightmare to deal with depending on who you come across. Not everyones a troll though, in the beginning when servers come up, its absolute pvp chaos. Don't let that social fun to deter you though! Anyway i look forward to seeing this game florish, and HOPEFULLY come to gog because i'd gladly buy another copy of this, 4-5x more just to support such drm free logic.

4/1/2022 just updating this review. The mentioned issues are still prevalent that was mentioned on nintendo switch, ps4, and xbox one builds. Devs still keep ban in place due to wanting to know if issues are resolved yet.

Old Nov 12th 2021 review below

Updating this to reflect POOR customer support on their official discord channel.. Mentioning major game breaking bugs and inquiring if major game breaking bugs on the switch edition are fixed is a bannable offense. If you ask questions on if the product you bought on the switch platform is resolved that's considered toxic and will get you banned. For the record I just want answers on if the product I bought is playable now.

Here's the question asked that ended up with a ban.

"In subnautica below zero is the game breaking bugs been resolved? Examples like saves being unloadable if you save near, by or around any vehicle? Is the crashes when you build 15+ structues resolved? Inventory issues being completely locked up and unusable due to planting bugs or general speaking bugs where you can't work around it because your inventory is literally occupied due to broken storage issues for player inventory."

That said, there are bugs on the pc edition but not so bad that it cripples the game like the console editions. If you ask questions devs/mods will try to outright ban, or silence you if you have questions regarding playability. I can't say I've personally run across real bad issues on the steam build but I can't ask because I've already been banned for wanting to know if the Nintendo switch edition game breaking issues were resolved.

I can't in good conscience recommend this game due to my own existing experience with devs, and their mods that try to suppress folks opinion /inquiring about issues if they were actually resolved or not. Be wary of this company unknown worlds entertainment.

Latest update on 9/8/2021 is pretty game breaking. Instant max out of all weapons was the devs choice. I cannot for this reason alone support anyone buying this, if this is the path the devs choose to take regarding major game changing updates that BREAK PROGRESSION.

That said, game is alot of fun but now not knowing if my progression is just gonna be reset, etc... and the updates for this game treated as Early Access makes me confident in that my saves, or progression will remain intact in the future updates. Luckily, i save edit, mod, and live edit, so i can rollback these "damages". But... for those of you who dont know how, this might be a MAJOR deal breaker, it would be for me if i knew they'd pull this in advance, i'd never have bought the game. Despite being such a major Aliens Fan.

Why would i wanna play a game knowing my progress, and experience is meaningless, and can be all mucked up because dev's decided for the better of the community with NO COMMUNITY INPUT on "maxing out all weapons". Can you imagine if they thought it was a great idea to wipe everything including your progression and time sank in, resetting everything? My god.

Anyway ranting past, this game is literally a scripted run through. 100% scripted to the point one play through is all you need. The enemies do the same thing, spawn in the same spots, and act the same with no real "reactive" and threatening function as portrayed in any of the movies.

If that doesn't discourage you, buy it. Its alot of fun, but replay value is absolutely ruined by basically just amping up enemy health. And given its all scripted once you do one or two full campaign run throughs, heck even horde mode, there is zero challenge. There are these challenge cards that "Slightly" adjust the scripted enemies and buffs them or debuffs their strength on any difficulty but i mean... thats about it. Thats the closest to "game changing randomization" you'll get as far as aliens popping out of no where. Loses its magic... fairly fast.

Long story short, the pros and cons are still the same. But the games grown on me as far as the experience. If you've ever played factorio, solo by yourself, this game is it. Except its not factorio, way less too do, but that doesn't stop folks from playing. Didn't stop me. Like factorio, i had to learn the ins and outs of actually setting up and optimizing my layout. Constantly. No blueprint system exists yet, no mods either, no legitimately (you can mod it with wrapper utilities and or run w/out steam with the previously mentioned wrapper/emu). That said, Games unbelievably stable. I was for a full 12hrs straight about to run it zero crashes. Took that a step further and di a 24hr run. Same thing, no crash on matter what i tried to build do, or goof up purposefully or non purposefully. This is a extremely well coded robust game. All this said, the game has temporarily grabbed my attention for a bit longer, im hoping we see this game released on DRM free platforms like GOG. Yeah its a solo experience, but if the devs implement mods theres alot the community can code themselves with out getting overly hacky with the game.

Old review below, new above 7/172021

So... this game seemed fun but alot of glaring problems.

If you like factorio take a crack at it, im still trying but its just... its painful. I cannot recommend this game at this time.

Listing cons since... there is so many.

Cons:

- Tied to DRM and a online account is required to play
- Ingame motion can be extremely slow
- Unintuitive UI, the devs have tried, but when you mis click you undo every action you've queued up
- Heavily relies on automation, the replicator doesn't always print as it was designed, you may need to manually craft things before you can craft others, game sometimes auto crafts everything neccessary
- Crafting can become painful, painful as in its not as straight forward as you think
- You need to youtube alot due to building and shortcut keys do not always work as intended
- Lacks multiplayer of any type
- Lacks mod support

Pros:

- Uh... its on the same level as factorio, but multi world, in a semi 3D/2D environment. Thats awesome
- Can be addictive like factorio, that magic wears off fast when it becomes less fun and more hassle though
- Graphics are done well, looking at the environment on the right hardware looks gorgeous
- Gameplay is extremely stable i haven't had one crash to date thats a big deal in my book

Game was alot of fun first play through.

The not so fun part was literally trying to get the game to work, riddled with issues as far as getting it to run, but thankfully disabling some devices/drivers seemed to do the trick... for me anyway. That said...

The story is amazing, and immersive. Feels like your literally playing in a movie. Your actions affect the outcome, and its neat to see the different view points of every character you control.
