Once you get past the annoyance of infrequent checkpoints, missing jumps or walking off ledges from either bad depth perception, it being too dark or the nature of 2.5D platformers, it's actually a brilliant puzzle-platformer. Whether it was conscious or subconscious for Tarsier Studios or just imaginary on my end, I sensed the influence of both Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Hayao Miyazaki, which is always a plus in my book. It's a bit on the short side, but I'm glad there are three DLC episodes waiting for me and the base game warrants another playthrough for the atmosphere, horror and puzzles, not to mention the collectibles you might miss.

I pre-ordered Little Nightmares but finished it today, cos I can get pretty rage-quitty when I have to replay parts of a level too many times due to a lack of checkpoints. That being said, its stealthy nature, short length (5-6 hours) and often going through a room from the floor level, climbing up to the rafters and making your way back, people accidentally messing up their saves would be likely, I guess. Or maybe not, I don't know. No regrets about pre-ordering though, cos Little Nightmares is a quality experience all the way through. Things can get pretty tense, the look and sounds of the enemy certainly helps with that.
