This game is such an improvement compared to CMS15. Not only are there more cars, but the amount of new game mechanics is awesome. Rather than just putting a tire on a rim, you have to remove the old tire, put on the new one, and balance it, all using two extra machines in the garage.

To some that may be annoying, paticularly if they enjoyed CMS15's simplistic way of taking apart cars, but to me it adds a whole new level to the game.

Personally, I love this game. I might only have an hour and a half played, and not a ton unlocked, but that shows how much fun it is to me.

There are a couple things that I don't paticularly enjoy, such as the right click to change assembly/dissassembly, then holding left click, rather than having it be like CMS15, but it's just something to get used to. Unfortunately, many people don't like change, so it may be annoying to you.

Addressing the negative reviews: I understand. The game isn't optimized all that well. I have a i7 4770k and a GTX 960, and to get around 60 fps I have to play on medium settings. But to me, the graphics don't matter all that much. Medium still looks pretty good, and I'm not too into the bloom that the high and ultra settings give.

However, if you own a low-end system, you might want to wait a little bit to allow the devs to polish the game a little more.

To those of you who are bashing on the devs: I can understand your frustration, that the game is not exactly how you want it to be, but consider this: game development isn't easy. It takes a long time, and with the devs wanting to make a game better than CMS15, they might have taken a different approach.

If you owned CMS15 and are on the fence: wait around a week. Notice the updates that the devs have already put out, and follow them. If you believe that the updates fixed whatever problem you might encounter, buy the game.

Also, to those who are on the fence and are reading reviews; People tend to leave reviews when they are upset or angry, not necessarily when they enjoy the game. Keep that in mind.

TL;DR: It truly is a good game, just give it some time.

ATS is not a new game. It's an official DLC made by SCS for ETS2.

Now, don't let that deter you from buying ATS. Let me explain.

ATS is a HUGE improvement compared to ETS2. You've got an upgraded game engine, with a brand new, highly detailed map. If you look at the Scandanavia DLC made for ETS2, ATS closely resembles the map quality from that.
Now, I know what you're thinking, if you've seen the map.
"Only two states? Really?"
And my response is; Yes. But don't run away yet. SCS plans to add states (not state by state, for $10 each (hopefully)) but bundled into multiple states.
There's only two trucks, too. But don't forget; ETS2 had/has a HUGE modding community, and I have no doubt in my mind that ATS will be the same way.
I'm sure sooner or later someone will make an unofficial mod that lets you go across the country, just big gray blobs instead of highly detailed roads/towns/cities.

Overall, $20 is not a bad deal, considering you get most if not all new trucks for free and new updates for free. The only thing you may need to give some more money for is more states. But consider this: you paid/will pay $20 for ATS. Newer AAA titles cost ~$60. If you had to pay another $40 for, lets say, 8 states, then you paid $60 for highly detailed towns/cities in 8 states.

If you're unsure, just try it out. Steam refunds are a thing.

Very poorly optimized. Great gameplay, but the optimization problems were atrocious. Couldn't get above 45 FPS, even at the LOWEST SETTINGS. Even in the cutscences I was getting as low as 22 FPS! My specs are near/exceeding the recommended ones, so it really shouldn't be an issue. ESPECIALLY at the lowest settings! That's just insane!

It's really too bad, because JC2 is one of my favorite games, and with the big map and added wignsuit I was pretty excited.

What a let down, only because of very very poor optimization.

One of the steepest learning curves I've ever experienced. Had fun for a little bit, thought I just needed some practice, but gave up after playing many many many sessions of tracks, switching from track to track occasionally so I wouldn't be good on just one. It's just not there for me. It's a Codemasters game, which means it will probably be of good quality, but as of now I give it a thumbs down.
