when i was a kid i would watch my older brother play this game with starry eyes. everything just looked so fresh and unique. when i started playing myself, i was absolutely horrible, but i couldnt stop playing. i remember my first ever random drop, a postal pummeler. i didnt even know what it did, but i loved using it. now, a new player would queue into a casual match after failing to get through the tutorial thats been broken for years, and wouldnt understand why they couldnt do anything.

but we all know why. bots. we have been left in the dust to scrape together some semblance of fun from whatever community servers are left, forced to deal with RTD and gigabytes of addons just to play the game we love. Valve outright refuses to do any actual problem solving, instead pushing out crates with no Valve content (which they have also given up so far seeing as the last new crate was winter last year) and giving false hope with "fixes" and tweets, leading us on to a better tomorrow that just might never come. instead of ACTUALLY working on their CLEARLY capable game, they work on an out of touch hero shooter that will surely die soon after launch, either from hackers and botters, or from good ol' valve syndrome. hype up a game thats somewhat similar to something else valve made either in gameplay or the universe it takes place in, then when it doesnt do amazing, snuff it out.

it is evident that people love this game unconditionally, since there are still people playing after the game being out for so, so long. valve struck gold, and stopped digging once they made a few minor missteps. they work on official competitive, it sucks at launch even with a semi-open beta and a metric ton of feedback. the worst part is im sure the devs didnt have much of a choice to release it when they did, they surely had deadlines to meet, and now, deadlocks to work on instead of the already proven great game.
