Wayfinder turns out to be a rather pleasant surprise. Its overall quality is far beyond what you'd expect to get from its price tag, and being able to play a new online co-op game with friends without being bothered by microtransactions, DLCs and battle passes feels super great. Sure, there are still a couple of things the devs have to work on, such as improving overworld performance, quest tracking and minimap. But it's already super worth it as it is, and I really hope it keeps getting updated.

Google Earth VR is amazing and will have you feeling like getting back into it every now and then rather than just being a half-baked alternate iteration/tech demo. In fact, I'd go as far as saying this is one of the coolest VR experiences to date, even though it's been released in 2016; something you'll want to show your parents, friends and relatives.

Parking Garage Rally Circuit is an awesome short tribute to SEGA Saturn racing games featuring a charmingly accurate art style and memorable soundtrack. The stages are creative, the controls are tight (but still fun to master and experiment with), and the realtime multiplayer support is a welcome surprise. Highly recommended for those who can't get enough of classic arcade racing games and their cheerful summer trip vibes.

People who say FINAL FANTASY 16 isn't worthy of being called a FINAL FANTASY game probably haven't played enough entries of the series in the first place, because like it or not, it has always been welcoming to gameplay changes: 3's job system, 4's active time battle, 6's espers, 7's limitbreak/materias, 8's GFs/junctions, 9's equipment abilities, 10's conditional turn-based battle system, 11's MMO, 12's active dimension battle/Zodiac job system and so on. Every design change brought different pros and cons, and unsurprisingly, each person's favorite entry wildly vary.

This time, there's little to no gear/job theory crafting and overall it is a much more linear experience — you're following a story through a set path instead of freely traveling across maps working for it to unfold as you develop your characters. This takes away some "seeing is believing" from the worldbuilding. But on the bright side, the visual presentation is amazing, combat gets more interesting with each eikon you obtain, cutscene direction is great and the boss fights are some of the best you're going to see in a spectacle fighter. It's up to you to decide whether or not the pros outweigh the cons in your case.

Update: Feeling like expanding on my thoughts a bit now that I'm finished with the game. Gameplay-wise, there are some balancing issues and stuff that could be vastly improved with small changes. For instance, party members feel useless, which could easily be improved with 15's link-strikes or techniques. Many sidequests are terrible and the chapters in between Dominant fight stages are shameless fillers. They would benefit from sub-boss fights much more than the Dominant fight stages do, since Dominant fights are already lengthy and the cherry on top.

When it comes to the story, some characters (Cid, Mid, Gav, Byron, Charon) totally steal the scene while others (such as Jill) could've had more attention. But again, cutscenes and transitions are very well directed (this coming from someone who's not totally fond of being suddenly interrupted) and features like the Active Time Lore, The Thousand Tomes and The State of the Realm are nothing short of amazing and show that they cared about what they were doing.

Now, regarding the game's difficulty, I don't feel like complaining because the MSQ being easy to get through comes from Yoshida's belief that main content should be accessible for everyone to get through. Thus, Medals of Valor, FINAL FANTASY difficulty (unfortunately only available on New Game +), the Arcade Mode, the Chronolith Trials and Kairos Gates are the optional challenges for those looking for it.

All in all, FINAL FANTASY XVI isn't a perfect game, but neither are the other FINAL FANTASY entries, and its highlights — especially the graphics, soundtrack and Eikon battles — are still worth the journey at the end of the day if you approach sidequests with great patience and pay no mind to enemy reskins.

The Timeloop is a good way to end Not For Broadcast, not to mention one that made the time spent on previous DLCs more worth it. A lot of fan favourite characters from the game's previous chapters get to appear and the second half of the expansion adds a fun twist that allowed them to break boundaries one more time and add in crazy scenes — which is what most of us like to see, even more now that we have a lot more of character background to render these crazy scenes even more absurd.

During the aforementioned second half of the expansion, the audience mechanic is temporarily ditched and you'll be deciding on what unpredictable segment to watch next, a bit like Bits of your Life, but with clue-hunting in place of camera management. It obviously plays differently and may end up disappointing you if you're expecting the usual gameplay. We've already spent a rather long time with the game, so I honestly didn't think it was detrimental. But it'd still be great if we could eventually play these segments separately (through Challenge Mode, for instance) with audience enabled, especially as some of them are musicals.

Nonetheless, if you had to pick just one of NFB's DLCs to play, this is the one I recommend going for. It has the most balanced gameplay and the most content out of all three of them, while also accurately leading you towards progress and respecting your time.

Just like other players would let you know, Abathor's first chapter doesn't set high expectations. However, it’s a shame to think anyone could leave the game this early on, because what follows is nothing short of an spectacular ride through setpieces that pay homage to many of the best sidescrollers ever created. It is assuredly going to make you smile at least once or twice.

Excellent boss fights and creatively challenging (but not necessarily frustrating) stages aside, the heroes sometimes get a chance to collect purple pebbles to power up a statue and transform into super powerful forms until the end of the stage. We couldn't help but feel this was a potential-rich mechanic that went underused in some chapters. It is, nonetheless, a pleasant surprise when it does appear.

To make it clear, Abathor is not devoid of dirty tricks and traps. You’re going to be taken by surprise and use your credits or even restart chapters many times — even more so if you’re going for the true ending, which requires you to beat the game a second time on a higher difficulty. But this is not only more bearable (and extremely funny) when you’re with friends, as you can promptly understand what got you as well.

All in all, this is a fantastic game that sidescroller fans shouldn't sleep on, especially those with friends to join the fun.

Shadow of the Ninja Reborn's new features are welcome, but to be blunt, its presentation is what makes it worth checking out, all the more if you’re a sucker for pixel graphics. If the boss fights were at least a bit more interesting and memorable, the unforgiving scrolling scenes probably wouldn’t have bothered us as much and we’d have a better impression of the gameplay. But as it is, you put a lot of effort to overcome scrolling scenes just to land on battles that don’t really make up for the struggle.

The boss fights and their mechanics are mostly untouched and haven’t aged very well. Taking advantage from the invincibility frames after being hurt to spam your buffed melee hits is often a good choice, usually safer and more effective than playing carefully. To put it simply, reworked boss fights would better fit the reworked player movement and attacks.

Were it not for its delightful audiovisual, I’d be compelled to call it a Fine game rather than a Good one. Some sections had us pulling our hairs out while we tried to find the best way through, and sometimes the answer was evidence we weren’t given the right tools to work with, almost as if the new level design had been tested solely with a playthrough buffed by the Prep Shop.

Yet, Reborn is doubtlessly a much more fleshed out experience than the original entry, not to mention much more affordable and accessible even if progressing through stages for the first time prove to be excessively challenging.

Blaston is an otherwise interesting game ruined by unbalanced matchmaking and sour brats pulling you the middle finger or screaming around the lobby. Can't avoid them even if you want to, as you can't disable crossplay and you wouldn't be able to find players anyway.

I've tried out 30XX with a friend who's a diehard Megaman fan, having played even the most commonly avoided entries such as Megaman X7. However, unfortunately not even the Megaman X: Rebirth mod — which makes things a lot better — was enough to justify playing this game.
  • Most boss fights are minuscule enemies in giant arenas;
  • Goofy sound effects and forgettable soundtrack;
  • Unless you're working towards post-game objectives, upgrades and abilities are trivial, making an already easy game even easier;
  • Many elements are hard to tell apart from the background;
  • Ultrawide aspect ratio is supported but doesn't work correctly, with UIs scaling incorrectly (button texts being completely out of place) and black artifacts on the lower left corner of the screen;
  • Local co-op isn't a great experience. Level design doesn't work well with it, boss fights are even easier and camera zoom outs look horrible.

Dragon Marked For Death is a mixed bag. If you like side scrollers, looters, mission based games and don't mind assets being reused a lot in order to provide more content, you're probably going to enjoy your time, especially playing with friends. However, it's worth mentioning Dragon Marked For Death has crashes and the same alt tab black screen and resolution scaling issues as other Inti games (such as Blaster Master Zero 2 and 3), making it blurry on full screen. Fortunately, this time you can fix it by setting up a Settings file[community.pcgamingwiki.com] that forces the game to run in the correct resolution, including ultrawide aspect ratios.

The reason I recommend Dragon Marked For Death despite its shortcomings is there isn't anything similar on PC. We can't pick something like Odin Sphere over it and the character design and sprites are quite charming. A second game featuring more engaging missions would be interesting.
