Oh... my... goodness.
What a beautiful piece of art this one is. Incredible storytelling, it feels more like an interactive film than a game.
The modelling, texturing and animation of Senua and the editing with live action footage is so seamless, the best I've seen anywhere. She looks so real, the visuals so cinematic, lighting is perfect.

The combat system is fairly basic, but doesn't leave you unsatisfied. Especially in 2 particular battles, with the addition of epic music, focus and environment it is unbelievably immersive.

The only thing I disliked was the speed of running. In a way it fit as there were a lot of moments of narration you didn't want to miss, but every now and then I found it a bit tedious to jog around instead of sprint.

I highly recommend this game. If only they made films this good.

Since the recent changes have broken the game so badly, I feel compelled to edit my, formerly glowing (5.5k helpful, 400+ funny{?}), review to reflect the current state.

Overkill decided to rebalance the game and ended up just making a complete mess. What was an objective based wave shooter is now just another horde shooter, but worse - because the game was never designed to be just that. It is a horde shooter in which you have to try and do objectives while under constant fire. Mechanics that were in the game since the first iteration of Payday, to give you time to complete non-assault tasks, have been almost completely removed.

Nearly all complaints about the old higher difficulties have now been enforced into the main game. Didn't like Swan Song? Well now it is practically mandatory.

To combat the stupid amount of spawns and specials spawns they've added, they just give us stupid skills and weapons. Aiming has been penalised, in favour of spray and pray. Even Sniper rifles can now kill things they didn't hit.

As for the way they have gone about receiving feedback, they literally joked about how most bad feedback is just trolling, on stream. None of it is taken seriously.

As a result, I have to change my previous recommendation and not recommend this game in it's current state. It just isn't fun anymore, the high difficulty is now nothing more than absolute tedium.

I was a guaranteed pre-order of Payday 3 when it'll finally get released. Now, I might get it when it's on sale. They have completely lost sight of what set Payday apart from the miriad of games in similar genres.

Great game, high replayability... One of those games that just get better and better the more you play it.

Check the hours played of negative reviewers first, they generally have at least a few hundred, if not in the thousands.. let that speak for itself. Generally just minor gripes, nothing worth giving a thumbs down.

Overkill get a bad rap, I think mostly from people with little experience in other games. IMO they are one of the best dev teams around. They made one bad business decision in the past, but since fixed it. They listen to their customers and are constantly adding content, rebalancing and continuing the development of the game, taking ideas back to the drawing board based on user feedback. This is rare these days.

The game has some issues, as you would expect with a game built on an outdated engine.
-Desync is the most prominent issue, however a fix is currently in beta. For the moment, it is advised to only stealth solo.
-Graphics are somewhat outdated. Look at any AAA game with great visuals and you will notice a distinct lack of AI on the map at any one time, compare that to 80+ cops hunting you down, plus any AI teammembers you might have. It is a necessary compromise.
-There are a lot of cheaters and they won't be banned from the game. However, this is another compromise; Payday 2 is a highly moddable game, from retextures to HUDs and all kinds of other, often silly, things. On the flipside, it is very easy to make friends in Payday and the community is, for the most part, pretty decent. Play with friends and host your own games.
-The update system requires you to have around the same of amount of spare disk space as the current game files' size on the drive the game is installed on.

As for the pro's:
If an update breaks anything, you can guarantee a hotfix if not the same day then the next.
The skills and perks systems allow for endless experimentation.
A lot of maps to play.
The ability to go loud and proud or sneaky stealth (not all missions, but quite a few)
A wide array of weapons to choose from and the ability to accessorise them to your needs once you learn how the skill system works.

Happy heisting!
