The chemicals in the juice of an onion are volatile Sulfate molecules. When these compounds come in contact with the salt water of your tears the Sulfates oxidize and react with the Chlorine ions, separating them from the Sodium ions forming a mixture of bare sodium and Sulfuric acid. The Sodium further micro reacts with the remaining water and debonds the hydrogen ions from the Oxygen Ions. This allows any stray chlorine ions to mop up some of the free hydrogen forming a weak and dilute form of Hydro Chloric Acid. This is what causes your eyes to burn when cutting onions. Still, even with the presence of two powerful acids, this ♥♥♥♥ is still not as caustic as UbiSoft's Ridiculous DRM.
