I didn't really have much interest in this but bought it as part of a Humble Bundle and was pleasantly surprised by such a high quality gaming experience.

The game looks beautiful. I think it's only about 4 or 5 years old so it shouldn't be a surprise but newer games have looked less AAA than this one.

The combat, using an XBOX 360 controller for windows, is not much more involved than bashing a few buttons but is crafted in such a way that it's a marvel to watch Batman jump from enemy to enemy and even change the direction of his punch mid-swing to stop an incoming attack.

He's not limited to just hand to hand combat though and can take advantage of high-placed gargoyles to swoop down on unsuspecting enemies, taking out a heavily armed contingent one by one. There's nothing more satisfying then watching the last remaining bad guy panic knowing his doom is imminent.

I played on EASY difficulty because I was only interested in the story and the combat was an easy experience but I think it added to feeling like I was The Batman. Smashing through groups of armed toughies wouldn't have seemed so epic if the harder difficulty made for a slower experience (I'm not sure if it does, just speculating).

The boss fights however, even though unique in their mechanics, were probably on the easy side. Especially the finale. A player wanting a more challenging experience should probably bump up the difficultly at least to Normal.
