Well, this game has written history, can't argue with that. Surely it has a rich main story (far better than the confusing storylines of the most recent entries in the franchise), while the simple gameplay mechanics are easy to use without seeming to be outdated. Personally, I prefer tapping the square button to hit the opponent rather than the RPG-common right trigger. I'm also happy that back then we didn't have skill trees and pick-up weapons. If you like your open-world games to be "simpler", then that's were you should spend your money – if not, then you might be looking for Origins, Odyssey or Valhalla (they surely are more visually fascinating and have many different options for every single aspect of the game). Perhaps there's a bit of nostalgia here, but you can't disagree that this game definitely is a classic.

Definitely an underrated gem! This PoP title offers a great open-world adventure (an improvement over its predeccessors) in a dream-like setting. Both the story and the characters are quite enjoyable. There's one little detail that I don't like though: we can't have steam achievements, while the console version does include trophies. However, in this price it's absolutely worth buying.

A very underrated game. It has a great Campaign Mode and map (the factions are diverse) with almost absolute historical accuracy concerning the factions' characteristics, their relationships and their varying difficulty. It has a so-and-so Politics system (there is not much to do there, but at least the elite isn't a constant problem). A con is that this game has no Expansions or Campaign DLCs. Also, there are no great Mods for Thrones of Britannia, like the MK 1212 AD (yet?). Overall, it's definitely worth buying when there's a discount.

Very nice short free game. It has a lot of potential. They should make a full game like that. Maybe an archaeological adventure or something.

It's definitely a nice game, but it surely needs some corrections regarding the building system. A sequel would be great, with an improved story. Turn dev mode on and enjoy, it's worth every penny.

Early Access Review
I may dislike these idle clickbot games, but you can surely learn something from that one. The main simulation universe was OK, but what I really loved was the dinosaur expansion and now I'm really looking forward for the next one about "The Beyond". Hmm... interesting.

Great Campaign Mode and map (especially if you choose to play as either of the Roman Empires) with almost absolute historical accuracy concerning the factions' characteristics, their relationships and their varying difficulty. It lacks a good Politics system, most DLCs are weak and the Nomad system seems pointless (especially on The Last Roman DLC). A huge advantage, however, is the great Medieval Kingdoms 1212 AD Mod (it's worth buying, even if you only play the Mod). Up till now, my personal favourite Total War title.

Great Campaign Mode and map, easy to use interface (suitable for players new to Total War or generally games), variety of settings throughout all the DLCs and nice Politics system. It might not always be absolutely historically accurate and it feels that it's a bit easy even when playing on Legendary difficulty.
