This is a really fun game, just feels good. Really easy to get into, had no idea the pistol was full auto until 6 or 7 games in haha. My only negative is the content is enough but I want more. Hit the first boss and it lagged out graphically, killing me but that may have just been my rig. No clue there. Anyway, play this game. Hopefully with enough support we can get more content.

Fantastic game so far three hours in. I constantly felt surprised by the direction this game takes and the unique physics-based mechanics feel fresh and different. A challenge at time but it "just works." Very happy with this.

NMS has a tainted history, but this has to be the greatest comeback story. This is a great $30 game now but would gladly pay $60 if this was the game that was out at launch. I'm 100 hours in and here's my thoughts.

My TLDR is this is almost what I imagined the end game to Spore was suppose to be (that's a massive compliment.)

Pros:
-The scale of the game is really something to enjoy, it's a giant sandbox with the ability to eventually build bases almost anywhere on any planet. If you like space exploration, this is a must grab.
-This would be a con for a simulator nerd, but the ship controls are easy and fun unlike many other games in the genre.
-Procedural generation has a ton of potential and many aspects of that are explored in NMS. I love this.
-MULTIPLAYER! I cannot emphasize enough how much fun this game is to play in groups. Tag team on nabbing resources, trading, etc.
-Intuitive inventory management in a game style that usually is tedious. It can be laborous, but it's almost always fun.
-Just rewarding. The progression is surprisingly diverse, with an truly optional narrative (to which I'll get into next.)

Cons:
-Story. Without getting into spoilers, I like the metaness of it all but I'm just glad it's optional and they've focused more on enriching the overall sandbox nature of the game.
-There are only three alien races, to which they don't balance in faction. It's just a hierarchy of missions between aliens and that feels lackluster to me. It can also be easily abused once you amassed a few dozen systems & their space stations but most of all it feels like juggling three jobs until you can zip around space quickly.
-Ironically, this game gets the most empty in space itself. The asteroids generate into your field of view quite obviously and there are no floating wreckage, dyson spheres or anything other than random frigates. Black holes are the rare exception, which I like.
-Repetitive. Trading outpost, space stations, and generated structures are repetitive until you get an Atlas V2 or V3 pass. Even so, it just adds an extra room to explore sometimes.

What I'd add/fix/tweak:
-More aliens, more ships, more diverse structures.
-Zoos. Seriously, let me collect my favorite species in one spot.
-Alien/guild reputation should decrease as others grow more favorably.
-More apocalyptic scenarios, the hazards in this game get weak quickly.

AMAZING. I almost cried. It's jawdropping to have this potential with technology today and this free software highlights it extremely well. Sound design is an unexpected wonder as well!

One note, why is this in the Games section of Steam? Wouldn't this be in Software?

The script is laughably terrible and emotionless, while the "feels" they attempt to incorporate are so forced that it becomes boring instantly. Gameplay is nothing special, granted I did like the skill score over killing being priority. Got repetetive and laborous almost instantly and have no idea why I exactly played till the end. Pass.
