Decided to review the game another time, 500 hours later. Let's start with the good things.

Naraka is a really good game with high skill cap. The game has the most fluid movement and combat system in all of the competitive games I've played. It builds around its basic movements and feels very intuitive. The combat implements an intricate rock-paper-scissors system. So to speak, you'll go very far with strong fundamentals!

Each mode is a lot different from each other. If you thrive in chaos, play trios. If you like simpler fights, flexing and trying out different combo variations, solos might be for you. I personally enjoy duos because it's not too chaotic, but its balance make for interesting fights.

Now with its bad sides: depending on your region, most matches (especially until platinum) will be filled with bots. Worst case, you're the only real person in your match. As new players grind their way up (past platinum), they'll start finding the huge skill gap between them and players who have learned their fundamentals. To add salt to the injury, lobbies will often be filled with players way, way beyond their elo.

Here's to wishing Naraka gets a wake up call to market the game outside China.

Anyway, give it a try. I promise it's an insanely fun game. Every fight almost feels like a highlight reel.
