I really like this game but you are just doing nothing but walk across the landscape determining whether or not the next encounter is winnable and worth the experience or if you're just going to get stomped trying. My memories are either of that or putting Trump's fence to shame building thick walls spanning the huge perimeter of my base, just for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to decide a tiny gap means they can go all inconporeal on my ass and pass through the wall.
