Early Access Review
Paladins was at one point a promising game... countless patches later not so much. Instead of improving on it's initial game concept most of the development time was spent becoming that thing most people accused the game of: being a f2p Overwatch rip-off. Core gameplay mechanics were dropped (siege), cards trivilaized to "fake" customization, the TTK lowered and maps shrunken down. The developers seem to be perfectly content on becoming the casual friendly Overwatch which is a shame because just like with Tribes Ascend they had something good in their hands but managed to ruin it.

Things to note:
- The netcode sucks (or the servers).
- Queue times are long and MMR is a joke.
- General pub play nets you more bots than anything (which are not even visibly distinguished from regular palyers).
- Comptetitive Paladins is a joke. It's the same handful of players since the beginning and they would probably struggle to even reach Masters in Overwatch.
- Every patch adds more bugs the devs will never fix (and it has plenty of those).
- Hitboxes are crazy big and as blocky as the map design.
- Resources are quite sacre when starting out leaving you with a subpar champion roaster. Apparently the gold prices also never get readjusted for the post-steam release champions.
- Balancing is too difficult for the devs...
- Footsteps in this game make me manic... totally failed in the sound design there.

Jeez... I often feel so out of touch with "modern gaming". Why does "narritive driven" have to equal boring and linear (((gameplay)))? As evident I did not get deep into this but combat was terrible VS the copy-pasta monsters and the puzzles were just annoying with the limited movement capabilities and tons of invisible walls there just to force you to wander around more. While I get the non-UI thing I find it hilarious that you have to guess the correct buttons for actions but they can still litter the screen with staff credits and the hint of supposed perma-death.
Now the story is where this supposedly would shine but besides decent VA and sound-design I have my doubts that this would actually manage to portray psychosis... But hey, it must really be so since it says so when starting the game and in the dialogue. Classic 4deep8u trappings...

(this is for Volume 1)
Labeling itself an experimental short film sounds about right since it only exists to showcase a basic concept. That one is however not really thought out and has the depth of your generic videogame plot involving aliens. Feels quite pointless to watch (but hey, no one is forcing you to and it's free)...

I think there are better ways to get funding for a project which don't require a Studio to put all this effort in promo work. If the subsequent works don't involve known Directors or Actors they will certainly sink among the masses of media works.

A meme game that could be fun... if you could actually play it without the mouse glitching non-stop in a dual monitor+ setup even with third party assisted mouse locks.
