I'll have to start by saying I've not played many tower defense games before but Empires in Ruins has been a lot of fun so far!
The sense of humour alone is enough to keep me playing for longer but it's good that the actual game itself is enjoyable too. The defense part is intuitive and very satisfying, I did feel a little overwhelmed to begin with in regards to realm management, there is a lot of information but I quickly got the hang of it and appreciated the depth to it.

A lot of fun especially for the price, the game plays nice and is challenging. The checkpoints and upgrades systems work well, I have felt challenged but not frustrated, even when you feel stuck you are still making progress towards getting better upgrades to help you clear the wave.

For a retro arcade feel game with some new twists I highly recommend this for some fun, especially at this price point.
