came for the cute food monsters, stayed for the body horror. in all seriousness, this is a great game that did *not* go where i expected to. it may look like it's for kids on the surface, but below that all the characters are compelling and deeply flawed and relatable. plus, a pretty good free DLC with 2-3 hours of content just came out, so that's always nice.

The controls for Sable can be a bit difficult to, well, control, especially on the hoverbike. The camera can often get stuck in geometry when you get too close to walls. My bike has, once or twice, disappeared or gotten stuck in a wall. All that being said, Sable is amazing and is worth your money and your time. Shedworks is a two-person dev team and they managed to create the most beautiful game I've honestly every played- Sable proved that you don't need combat or high stakes plotlines to make a game interesting. Sable's plot is a simple one- the eponymous Sable needs to trek across their desert planet in a coming of age ritual. No world ending threats, no planet conquering armies. Just a child growing up. And it was amazing and engrossing, and is still keeping me going, and I probably will keep going until I absolutely have to end the journey. Is Sable perfect? No, but it was an amazing experience and I eagerly await Shedworks' next project.
