Kind of boring. The Max Payne-inspired aesthetic, while great on paper, never evolves past the same hotel corridors and single mindless enemy in the time I gave it. Slo-mo couldn't save this one

The new "One More Run" game. Sometimes I'll just pop in to attempt one more Hell run, fail, and not feel like I've lost anything. The card mechanic is extremely satisfying when partnered with the tight controls and bumpin' soundtrack. I'd love for a DLC pack or a sequel, but what you're getting here is extraordinary and well worth the price of admission

I am not good at card games.

I’ve dabbled, both in physical games (MtG, Keyforge, Star Wars Destiny) and digital deck builders (Slay the Spire, etc) but I just can never do it. Probably the fact that knowing what the cards DO is just as important as know what is remaining in your deck. So I just bounce and never come back.

Inscryption is different. I love that at a certain point you can progress by just straight up making OP cards and I can feel like a genius.

Story is dope too.

Returned in one hour. Here's why:

I bought the game primarily to play in VR. However the Steam VR integration is so bad, its laughable. Here are some of the issues I ran into (Oculus Quest 1 with RTX 2080 and Ryzen 5 3600).

First, don't both toggling the VR in the options menu. You toggle, then put the headset on, them MAYBE SteamVR doesn't immediately crash, but this happened 100% of the time for me, let alone the hassle to turn on Oculus Link, then for Steam VR to reboot and detect the headset.

Also I hope you don't have to take the headset off while you're playing. More hangups, crashes, and general unresponsive-ness from the game. Chances are you'll come back to some sounds and a black screen.

Speaking of, I started the game the first time from boot when it asked me to start in VR. Cool, I thought. Nope, black screen. After fiddling, I was then met with the Origin login and my keyboard input was disabled. Awesome. After starting again (not in VR), entering my info, I tried navigating with a controller. Again, nope, input disabled. This was all before I even entered the cockpit.

Ok, so twenty minutes later I'm finally flying. It's glorious for all of 10 seconds before my framerate tanks. Again, I'm running a 2080 and it can't even manage a solid 90fps, or even 72 to match the Quest.

This is pretty inexcusable and I will be refunding my money until this is fixed. But hey, EA is just a small indie studio.

One of the few games that comes close to a 10/10.

Story is top notch, especially the twist at the end and is well-paced. Traversal is quick; like a fast version of Tomb Raider or Uncharted. And the game is gorgeous, especially if you like post-apocalyptic settings.

Andy Serkis is a beast as Monkey.

The only downside is the lack of graphic options and pretty simple combat and shooting.

Shame there won't be a sequel.
