This is a good Civ game.

The changes are pretty decent in my opinion:

1: Requiring you build districts instead of just building everything in a city center adds a nice dimension to city building.
2: A separate Civics tree that gets "helped" by actions you take in game are nice and add another level of strategy.
3: The "cards" for your government allow a high level of customization and allow you to tailor your governments toward your own particular victory.

Only thing I will say is that some players view it as "more basic" and I can agree, but I think games like EU4 and CK2 have cornered the grand strategy genre, Civ VI is the perfect "just 5 more minutes...wait why is the sun coming up" game.
