Best MMO I've ever played. The story is crazy, and the expansions are awesome. If you're on the fence, at least try the trial!

Edit: Actually 2000 hours later, still worth

Just got 100% in this game and loved every bit of it. It feels like a hyper-fast dark souls 1 to me- 99% of enemies feel really fair, and when you die its YOUR fault for not being good enough. Only really bad thing I could say is that they reuse bosses a little too much, but the combat was so satisfying that it didn't really matter to me. Maybe my new favorite fromsoft game. Definitely worth the money.

The game may be hard, but Dark Souls may be the best at blending difficulty with fairness in any game I have ever played. I honestly felt like every time I died in this game it was because I did something wrong like being too hasty, not using mechanics well enough, or going somewhere that I was just not ready for quite yet, but it never felt like the game was cheap shotting me from any angle, it just demanded respect. This game is so fun to play, and I don't think I have played a better game that challenged me like this one has (haven't played Bloodborne or Demon Souls because I only have my PC). The game allows you to play the way you want to play, but you just need the skill to pull it off, you just need to be patient and respect the game. This is a great one if you haven't picked it up already.

This game SLAPS, what a way to end a video game. It makes the first game even better by existing, exatcly what a sequel should do. If you've played the first you won't be disappointed, and if you haven't it's still a wild ride.

I grew up playing 3D platformers, so after my disappointment from Yooka Laylee’s supposed mediocrity (still haven’t played it), my interest was sparked by A Hat In Time. I finally got to give it a chance, and after I started I couldn’t stop, the whole time with a smile on my face. The devs know exactly what their game is in terms of game design and it shows, in other games I would consider it too ambitious to switch up level design so much but A Hat in Time does it with a lot of tact, and I actually welcomed it. Whether it was the short vignettes of the movie studio or the vast, beautiful expanse of the mountains, this game made me smile at every turn, it was infectious, and I couldn’t help but see the love and care put in by people who actually care about video games.

Pros
------
-Change in level design from act to act was done well and was actually welcomed

-Adorable story and characters

-The controls felt great, and the tutorialization was fun

-Kept gameplay fresh with badges and other missions

-Some of the visuals are absolutely amazing in this game, and some of the visual experiences left me audibly saying “WOW!”

-Exploration was fun

-Surprisingly deep amount of customization for the main character

-Great music!

-Made me laugh constantly

Cons (minor complaints, just little things I think the game could have to make it better)
------
-Lack of free roam after completion of worlds/ levels (you can practically free roam in most levels, but it would be nice to have a dedicated feature for free roam on all levels that have collectibles.)

-Sometimes it felt like a map was needed to navigate, and I think would be useful to younger and/or more inexperienced players who have a trouble with landmarking in games (I’m thinking mainly in the forest level)

-Graphically there was a lack of polish, but no game breaking bugs, and totally understandable for an indie dev for a game of this scale (this seems contradictory to my pros statement, but this game was on a spectrum graphics-wise).

Overall this was one of the most pleasant experiences with a game I’ve had in a long time, and it was good from top to bottom. There was a lot of good games to come out of 2017, but A Hat in Time is definitely in my top 5 this year.

Really good, especially for the story. I always like games that let you create sub-narratives. Gameplay is kind of odd sometimes, but really turns into something engaging and thoughtful.

Best game of the year so far that I've played. So many memorable characters that you actually care about and so much love and care was clearly put into this game. This game is worth every cent.
