Has a great premise of being an immortal, pretty graphics, a lot of its foundations I thought were brilliant and innovative, unfortunately the game fell victim to typical cash shop nonsense, milked its players for every dollar, and is clearly dying so it's not worth investing yourself into it, they also omitted features that I thought were quite unique when the game was new, such as having your own worshipers and a room you could visit to physically see and recruit them for your cause, whereas now they're reduced to an impersonal number/stat.

I thought at the time that the game was quite innovative, but the cash shop presence overshadowed the whole game and it never seemed to let up. I had fun in the beginning but the game is clearly on the way to the grave and I can't access a lot of content due to it requiring groups, game could only be revived if they overhauled it, abolished the pay to win elements, made content more accessible and rewarding to all players, made solo-play more fun/engaging and feel less lonely (by introducing companions/follower content maybe?), and found a way to attract new players (possibly through a rebranding to accompany the overhaul?).

Really wanted to see this game succeed but I can't recommend it as it is.

Lots of player created content, games, inventions, decorations. You can earn cosmetics (rng) from playing content. Plenty of players, a lot of kids though. I can't recommend it because while it has a lot of great foundations for a VR mmo, it's buggy.

Currently my microphone (Valve Index) stops working in this game for no reason and there's no menu option to change it to another microphone or troubleshoot... My microphone is also working fine according to every other program so it's just rec room.

Every weapon has simulated weight while your character has noodle arms and can't hold anything straight or steady. I can't even hold a pistol straight with one hand and it flops around constantly while I'm not even moving IRL so what exactly is the point of skill or aiming? I thought maybe something was wrong with my controllers but nope it's an in-built mandatory "feature" with no off button. I get that it's supposed to simulate real weapons but it's not even realistic and takes away all the fun and skill-based gameplay of VR weapon-play for me, plus the gun broke after 18 bullets.

I'm not far into the game but after this unsatisfying experience, I'm not keen for the rest of it. I am happy to die or lose or fail if it's just my lack of skill/reflexes and some bad luck, but it is frustrating to watch your characters noodle arms flail a handgun about and struggle to shoot something 2 meters directly in front of you. I came here to have fun and kill dumb zombies that aren't smart enough to dodge attacks, not experience a noodle simulator.

The pixel art character creator alone was worth the buy for me, I love using it to create a base for pixel characters to throw into photoshop. Aside from this, i also enjoy the story, writing, island of criminals trope, and the unique magic system, though I do wish magic and abilities were a tiny bit more in-depth and allowed for more battle-related customisation. I would really like a non-lethal option for ranged magic attacks since a major gameplay mechanic is the ability to negotiate with and recruit enemy monsters/characters.

One of my favourite games, it's a classic. Reminiscent of dark souls with complex combat mechanics, difficulty, and similarities in storytelling, though it's a much smaller game/franchise by comparison.

I enjoy combat in this much more than in dark souls, it feels more action packed, flashy, and encourages vertical fights where you climb, jump, mount and grapple enemies, etc. to get to vulnerable parts of an enemy, similar to mechanics in monster hunter world.

There's a lot of variety to how you can customise your character class/builds, as well as the build (and look) of your pawn which functions as a permanent companion throughout the game that offers a bit of commentary (depending on how you shape their personality) and useful hints, etc.

There's no online coop, however you can share your pawns and "rent" others pawns to complete your party, the more experience a pawn gains with fighting different creatures, the smarter their AI becomes and the more effective they are at fighting those creatures.

The combat and the pawn system are the main points that always bring me back to this game, and it's why there's always space on my jam-packed hard drive for it.

Game is constantly being worked on, however as it is right now, there's tons of open world content reminiscent of skyrim. The voice actors are either inexperienced or english is their second language or both, but I think it adds to the charm. Graphics are charming, area design and gameplay seem to get more advanced/polished the further you go, I think this is a result of the developer learning as they go? Companion choices and dialogue are simple but decent, house building is decent (hope to see this expanded), variety of skills and magic to make interesting builds. Enjoying the game so far and looking forward to see what else is added in future.

I would specifically like to see more choices for building stairs, more areas that allow building (like a 2nd house/base etc.) and maybe some more companions/companion dialogue/quest content. I would also eventually like to see ways to increase attributes, although there's meant to be some replay value around this "unique character building," the game world is so vast and full of quests/content, I doubt I will ever come close to finishing it all and making a new character. Similar to Skyrim, I will likely just play the same character the whole game and attempt to do all the side quests with that character.

The game would greatly benefit from being able to view a list of publicly available servers. Ideally I would like to be able to see games people are hosting with passwords and be able to message the host to ask if I could join (once they review my profile and discern that I'm not a troll who's going to wreck their world).

cool concept and solid gameplay, though it would really benefit from character (visual) customisation options, I would love to scan different citizens for accessories/clothes/appearances and put them all together to my tastes (rather than hoping RNG gets the look right), could easily have invested several hours into that sort of thing alone. Have played a few hours and enjoyed the story and gameplay so far, though finding it difficult to get invested in my characters cause they still feel like a randomly generated mish mash rather than a team I specifically put together.

I really wanted to recommend this but development feels extremely slow for early access, and I can't shake the disappointment of coming back to this game after a long period and feeling like almost nothing has changed.

The concept is simple but effective, games like this show we don't need fancy graphics or overly complicated gameplay to have fun and I'm really surprised no other developers have taken the same/similar approach to a zombie survival game. Survivalist invisible strain is probably the most similar game I can think of as it also has a small developer team (one person), community mod support, similar vision mechanics, simple graphics, etc. but both games play very differently.

Development for this feels extremely slow, I picked this game up ages ago and I can't readily identify any changes that were made, I would love to see companions/followers added so I can build my small team/community of survivors and take on the hoards, there are mods that add this to some degree but they are very buggy and with limited options (randomised appearance, no zombie bite immunity/cure, poor AI). For now Survivalist scratches that itch, but I really enjoy the top down isometric combat in PZ, it's just a shame development is at a snails pace.

I would only recommend getting this game (on sale) if you are interested in its current content as it may be years before you see new features. I was overall a little disappointed after a few hours of gameplay after having left this game for so long (waiting for further development). It doesn't feel like a "long play" kind of game where you can set new goals to have your character build/survive/thrive, it feels more like a casual short game to see how long your character survives, or how many waves of zombies you can take on. I can't remember if the "survive waves of zombies" gameplay is part of the core game or a mod, feels like a lot of the content that I ended up playing with were from modders. I hope to see some developer progress and get to change my recommendation next time I try the game again.

I find it difficult to recommend the game to friends, it's a good game and it's fun, but the craft bag being locked behind a subscription means I'm either spending the majority of my playtime organising my bag space, or I'm paying for a subscription.

I am a casual gamer and current student with many hobbies and other games to play with friends so paying for a sub for one game doesn't make sense for me. I keep finding myself abandoning this game for long periods because I'm just not enjoying my time with it. Having to organise bag space after every dungeon or every half hour of questing gets old fast, and when I think of what game I feel like playing and look at this, I just feel like it'd be a chore. It's very clear they're trying to pressure you into a subscription with the prevailing inconvenience of limited bag space and it just leaves me with an icky feeling. I like to pay for things I enjoy, but I don't like the way this game handles inventory management, and find it difficult to enjoy because of it, and I'm not about to invest more money into a game I'm not enjoying to try and squeeze some fun out of it for a month.

I will come back to it every now and then when I have the time and patience for inventory management.

Note I have reached champion level 75 in-game and bag space has never stopped being an issue. The number of hours logged on steam doesn't reflect times where I've left it open to patch/update.
