A great game with fun combats, very generous: it's filled to the brim with mini games and some of them are associated with side quests which are all as well written as the main story.
Speaking of which, at first I didn't felt very invested, but it took me away as soon as I figured its main theme (how people can react when the judicial system doesn't work).
And as always, like in any game from RGK studios, it's never cynical and it knows how to not take itself too seriously.
Moreover, one of its characters is hands down one of the most bad ass female characters I found in a video game along with he Boss from MGS 3.

However, I strongly advise you to have play the former episode before and having played Yakuza like a dragon can help understanding the background of the story.

Once mastered, the core gameplay is pure dopamine lit with adrenaline.
On the other hand, the procedural levels and some boss fights could be improved. However, the devs are willling to listen to people's feed back, which is nice and gives me with high hopes for this game's future.
The character design is gorgeous and the story seems interesting, but I don't really enjoy reading the dialogues because I want to keep running through the levels forever :D

The gameplay isn't best compared to many other good games of the genre for sure. But it's still fun nonetheless as it leave room for experiment with its combat mechanics and every boss feels rewarding to beat.
However, as you probably saw with the screenshot what makes it stand out are its gorgeous graphics and its sad story.

A great game.
Pro tip: make sure to get at least 25 Hearts since most checks in this game are based on this stats and you need to have 25 to equip the most powerful weapon in the game. Go check in the settings to slow down the speed at which your fuel and food are depleted and give your projectiles homing properties. Then your good to go. Prioritise finding safe trade routes before trying to complete your quests. Although helping the circus in the first area ASAP is a good idea).

It sure takes a while before getting to the most interesting things this game has to offer, but it makes you more invested in this strange world, and it rewards you generously if your patient enough.
And alongside Bloodborne it's my favourite lovecraftian game.

There are many games I prefer over this one, but I just can't find any flaws in what it is doing.
The gameplay is immaculate while the art direction alongside the music from Machine Girl both elevate it.
Even the cringy dialogues reeled by the voice over actors make its story funny.

This game made me like a drunkard while I hate alcohol.

Yes, the prologue is boring, but it gets good and even great in many cases afterward.
The core idea is carried by a really solid level design and the design of the mutants which is as good as it gets.
Moreover, a few options make the backtracking as short as possible.

Sure it's not one of the best metroidvanias, but its original idea along with a very solid execution make this game stand out among other games of the genre.

I expected a nice little game, but it's better than that.
The best comparison that comes to my mind is the combination of Earthbound without the grind, a bit of old school zelda games (snes/game boy era) for the nice dungeons and The Last of Us but it doesn't take itself seriously and without its violence.
I had great pleasure playing through it and I got attached to its cities and their inhabitants, all the side characters we meet along and last but not least our duo of protagonists.
So much that I felt a bit sad when I reached the ending, like any great J-RPGs.
Oh! And I almost forgot its soundtrack which is memorable. Especially the two tracks for the final boss which are bot bangers.
Long story short, you can't go wrong buying this game.

The game is fun and pretty easy to play and learn. Sure it has its flaws (but you'll run into them only at high level), but the devs are taking care of it, although they take their time for it.
The community is nice and welcoming no matter if you're here to play for fun or willing to take part in tournaments.
Moreover, there is a free edition so you're not risking anything to try it.

Can't customise our controls. The game wants us to play with WASD which are unfit if we don't have a QWERTY keyboard.
This is not acceptable today. Long live the refund.
