No couch co-op and no controller support. Admittedly this won't matter to the majority of players, but it was a dealbreaker for me. Couch co-op and controller support have been widely discussed leading up to launch, but were unexpectedly absent on start-up. Larian claims they hope to add them during Early Access, but for now my money is wasted. Don't do the same if this is a must-have feature for you.

My original review was from early access launch day, couldn't find out if that feature was available and bit the bullet instead of being patient :-) now that's in the past, so I'm just rescinding my thumbs-down and looking forward to playing it s oon

I enjoyed my little wander around in VR. It wasn't perfect, but it was cheap. Yeah it's a bit misleading that this is listed in various places as if it's a free VR experience, when VR is actually the only part that costs, but I've paid a lot more in my life for a lot less.

Now, I would like to have a reason to go back into VR, and for that I'd have to hear that the visuals had even more tweaks and overhauls. A lot of effort has clearly gone in already, but unfortunately in VR it's much harder to escape scrutiny of individual elements.

For example, there are some models of tree that look so amazing, individual leaves blow in the wind near your face. However, they're few and far between and only serve to contrast more with the average tree, which is two flat faces crossed over, and seem to take up most of the scenery. Especially in certain areas, such as little pools you find or far reaching views, look to the sides or beyond the pool, and it's just many of this simple tree, repeated.

I don't know if it's my rig, but my visuals are not as stunning as many I see screenshots of. Not sure if they're only achievable outside of VR, or their setup is just way better than mine, but I do have a pretty powerful system, and I'm not seeing that complexity of light, colour, glow, sharpness of details that others are seeing. Maybe this is a limit of my OG rift, or maybe my system is showing its age already, or maybe the VR experience just doesn't deliver that slightly-beyond-real visual that gives some other screenshots a bit of magic I didn't seem to find.

Anyway, this game is meant to just be a little experience. As far as I can tell, there's not a great deal of variety to discover - just a few slightly different locations centred around one simple theme. But it works, and it's peaceful. I don't know if it's possible to play my own music in the background - I couldn't figure that out - maybe not on Oculus, but the charming instrumentals were enjoyable enough. I'd like to use Natural Locomotion as a movement method, but couldn't see an option for it - however standard analogue stick movement and the right frame of mind works well enough, if teleportation isn't your jam.

At the end of the day if you've somehow acquired a £££ headset and a ££££ computer to play it on, it seems strange to gripe about paying £ for a short experience, yknow? That said, I hope there's enough of those £ to fund another revisit to just tighten up the experience a little more.
