Eleven hours (in my case) of great story and puzzling for free! It doesn't even feel like a mod, it feels like an extra Portal game. Awesome!

This game is só much darker than I had anticipated, but it is also emotional, beautiful and sometimes even cute (looking at you, baby gnomes!). Also I love John Bauer so it was wonderful to see some of his creations back in the game. :) The music was amazing, with that high old Nordic folk singing and raw fiddle sounds (reminded me of Gåte).
Can really recommend this, especially if you like grim nordic folk tales. Although I do advice you to use a controller and not a keyboard. It is doable with keyboard if you're careful but I fell to my death several times because I walked in slightly the wrong direction. :D

The concept is great, and when it works it is a lot of fun, however the game is full of bugs, there is no manual save option (not even in sandbox mode), and the devs are not interested in this game anymore so they took their hands of it. In 'normal' mode you get random events you cannot turn off which are funny at first but become a pain in the ass quite soon, especially because they are the same over and over again and also don't always make sense (the power is off but the elevator still works?), and they just interrupt your workflow. Also the idea of designing a room specifically to cater to one guest in particular seems strange. So you want everything in red and black? Well, maybe other guests don't. (Also, don't bother with those colors because even if you paint the ceiling black you will NOT get that objective. You might just as well paint everything in a color you like). The NPC's are weird and don't add anything, and the restaurant is just.. sitting there?

The devs have promised all kinds of bug fixes, as well as the adding of features that people requested (for example a tool to easily reselect a color you have used before, the option to not only change the color of the bed sheets but also of the wooden frame so it will actually match your wardrobe and chairs, adding the old furniture/wallpapers etc in a clean state to the purchasable items, etc.) but nothing has come of it. Now they don't even react anymore. They have just given up.

It says I played 19 hours. Well, you can say that, but many of those hours were in frustration trying to get past bugs and even restarting the game from the beginning and eventually just giving up. They weren't necessarily 19 hours of fun, so to say.

Lastly something more personal, you might feel different about this: I really loved the old look of the hotel and it pained me to demolish it all without having the option to bring the hotel back to the same style...

The second act made me cry.

The grayness of Lady Winterbourne's world is so amazingly drawn you cannot help but actually feel it. And although there is no voice-acting, the music fits the mood so well you really do not need it.

Beautiful little game. Be sure to click on everything you can (windows, statues, books, paintings, etc.), even if it isn't necessary to move on with the game. It really gives more depth to the characters and their stories.

On and on, until my very bones are wet

Really charming game, beautifully made. Sometimes it was a bit difficult to understand what the game wanted of me, but all in all it was a really nice playthrough.

This game is so f*cking boring. I came to somewhere in sequence 5 yet still nothing had happened. What a waste of time.

I usually don't write reviews but for this game I had to, because it is so f*cking awesome. I love the puzzles (some quite easy, others real brainbreakers - yes, more challenging than Portal), the story, the philosophy and history, the music, the atmosphere, the way you gradually find out who, what en where you are and why you are there, and the choices you have to make in the end... Oh, and the 'friends' I made! I found myself constantly looking for signs of life on the walls, and the conversations with the Serpent were simply lovely. :)
When I bought this game I had never even heard of it, so I didn't expect too much, but it has left me completely flabbergasted and full of energy. Added Road to Gehenna to my wishlist, hope it is just as great!

Almost forgot: One of the best games ever. You should buy it.

I know it is not the best game ever (storywise or graphically) but still I love it the most. For reasons.
