The biggest mistake I made when I first started playing was thinking that everything did a billion damage. They don't. Even the Tree Sentinel won't one-shot you at base vigor. So level up that vigor Tarnished! You'll have so much more leeway if it takes 3 shots instead of 2 shots to kill you.

A massive upgrade over the original and HD versions, both visually and gameplay wise. Highly recommended.

Two tips:
* Add SKIPINTRO and DEBUGSPEEDS to your launch options. The former of course skips the intro, while the latter allows singleplayer game speeds above 2X.
* If you're new to this game or unaware of the "proper" way to open a game, search for the first 15 villagers guide. Soon, you'll be building your two Houses in no time!

If you've played Age of Empires II, then it'll be pretty easy for you to get started with this game.

However, if you're expecting it to be a lot like AOEII, you'll probably be a little disappointed with the seeming lack of features such as gates, unique units, garrisoning and so forth. It's also a bit disappointing that all units, regardless of civilization, speak only Latin(?). But despite these missing features, you'll have fun with the game.

If there is one thing that AOE does far better than Age of Kings, it's in its cheats. Think monks are too slow and weak? There's hoyohoyo for you. Thought AOEII's cobra cars were a bit weak against building? Well, say hello to Winsett's Z cars. Oh yeah, and did I mention that you can also spawn a tricycle-riding baby wielding a shotgun?

Changes from OOTP 19:
*More realistic throwing animation, which means slower gameplay in general. In other words, you'll usually see ♥♥♥♥ their body back before throwing. This is most noticeable in pitcher and catchers.
*Spray charts! Now you get to see where on the field your batters are letting you down
*Home run fireworks. Don't worry, if they scare the hell out of you, you can disable them.
*Some new bells and whistles on the management screen. Now you know how many championship rings your franchise has.

Overall, these changes are pretty good, especially the more realistic animation. It's certainly not a game changer (an example of a game changer woud MLB the Show level graphics), but it's still a nice enhancement of the baseball simulator we all know and love.

First OOTP game I ever bought. The best parts of this game are its customization and stat keeping. Sure, it's no MLB the Show; you can't control where your pitcher pitches or when your batter swings the bat, but there's still a lot of fun seeing all those promotions, home runs, rings and awards pile up on players. This game even has real minor league and college players in it!

The key here is to KEEP MOVING! The more you move, the more points you can get during the easy stages. You're going to have a hard time getting those "score X points in a single round" achievements if you stand still all the time.

Apparently, it's better to wear a suit instead of a flak jacket to a gun fight.

Start with Valve's tutorials. They're pretty good.
