Game itself is pretty damn fantastic, you can read why in detail in several of the top reviews. I'm not an FPS person, but this game immediately hooked me on release. The issue with the current state of the game and why I cannot recommend it in good faith falls between two key issues; poor balancing and bad casual matchmaking.

As for the balancing issue, it's a fairly standard case of "Nerf current meta into the ground, immediately replace it with another one". This is a notoriously difficult task for PvP games in fairness, but despite each class having a dozen or so weapon options, only 2 or 3 are ever actually viable if you want any chance of keeping up. It also doesn't help that balance changes only happen every month or so on top of this.

But the second, and in my opinion the worst key issue is that casual gamemodes seem to have an extremely inconsistent elo system. In pretty much every World Tour (casual 8 team tournament) I seem to encounter teams that are substantially worse at the game than everyone else, and even worse, I encounter hyper-meta ranked players that mop the entire lobby. With it's concurrent player counts, this degree of skill gaps shouldn't exist. Games like this die quickly when their casual scene isn't cared for, and I am worried of this fate for The Finals.

All in all I love this game but I just feel that new players are up against a skill wall that would deter most, and as it stands there isn't a safe environment to consistently build skill. If you're already a fast paced FPS player, that tends to translate well into The Finals at least. At least it's free - up to you to give it a chance.

First played this game when I was 12, pretty much the first game I ever sunk real hours into. I may not have as many hours as some, but I can say for certain this game is still one of my favorite gaming experiences 12 years later. I can't get into Civ 6, the mechanics just aren't as satisfying to me. The engine for Civ 5 might not hold up well into the late game, but man this is a must have experience for 4X strategy lovers. Just wait for a sale and buy the deluxe version with the DLCs, they're great. If Civ 7 plays similarly to Civ 5, Firaxis will have nailed it!

Early Access Review
Essentially imagine ARK but with a slightly more advanced PvP mechanic and no dinosaurs. As of right now the content seems rather limited, so the most fun to be found -at least by my personal experience- is on multiplayer PvP with mods. Beautiful and very promising, I look forward to this game's development. If not worth the buy now -though I would argue it is-, certainly soon!

Early Access Review
Excellent game, I rate it 8.5/10 in its current state as of right now. The effort made by the devs to produce such an ominous and scary environment is amazing. I struggle to play by myself, as just the ambiance sends chills down my spine. The biggest draw-back thus far is the limits to the content of the game, however the devs do an excellent job of listening to the community and new content comes fairly frequently. With friends The Forest can be a solid day of fun and excitement, and it will only improve as time goes on. And a HUGE plus is that the game is very well optimized, and even on lower-end settings the environment can be breathtaking. Overall, if you're thinking of purchasing The Forest in its current state, just consider that it is still Early Access and a good deal unfinished. Looking forward to the great things to come from this game. *EDIT* The latest update FINALLY completed the overall backbone of the storyline, so for its price The Forest is now completely worth!

A fun game with grand campaigns, my only issues really are the occasional bugs that can be found here and there, as well as the failure of it's multiplayer and overall expense of the game. $30 is really just too much for the amount of content you actually enjoy using, however if it were to ever drop to $5, then hell yeah buy it. Until then it just isn't worth it.

A really smooth FPS that honestly couldn't get any better for free. Class devices add a little something more to this game than other FPSs, which I love having the ability to scan for foes and such. A great game and totally worth a download.
