Career Mode:

By far, the most played game-modes that I play is Career Mode [CM]. I believe that FIFA 22 for PC allows for more variation than console editions, and unlike prior FIFAs, I am able to continually come back and enjoy the game. This has been helped by, the limited, but interesting, modifications that you can apply to the game. I think these modifications provide somewhat more realism, and keep the game somewhat more fresh. I would encourage more mod-creators to work on FIFA 22, as there is a large scope of ideas that can be implemented to give players something new to try for. I personally am looking for a way to extend past the 15 seasons limit.

Furthermore, I believe there could be a scope for the possibility of cosmetic changes. An example of this can be seen through modifications which implement the FIFA Club World Cup, and a cosmetic change could be the addition of the badge that teams receive after winning the competition. Although a minor feature, it would add to the realism of the game. Moreover, this would be a great way for EA to expand into more competitions, given their ability to get licensing

As mentioned, the 15 season limit is an obvious issue for many players that have complained in the past. While I do believe it is hard to even get to 15 seasons, let alone 10, the ability to have more seasons (up to 30 for example) would allow for more RTG careers, with both clubs or your personal manager. However, I also find it difficult to do CMs which start in League 2, as I like to build a team gradually overtime; I do this usually by assigning myself three primary signings per season. It just adds to a level of realism that doesn't see me just bring in whatever and however many players I want. Personally, I would like to have a player CM that evolves into a managerial career. I know this is possible already, but having the ability to have longer CMs, would allow two senses of progress: one through your player's career, and second, through your now retired player becoming an up and coming manager.

Another compliant I may have is the managerial objectives, which can be unrealistic and over the top. For example, I enjoy to make CMs with teams like Wolves and aim for more "realistic" targets such as the UECL or UEL. However, I have had it, where I will finish in a poor position, such as 12th, and the next season, be required to reach UCL places. Now usually, this doesn't effect the job and get me sacked, but it has. I think there should be some sort of option for the player to make more realistic objectives, if they want to. Something similar to what you have with the Create a Club CM.

I don't know how many would share my opinion on this next point, but I have a love-hate relationship with player growth. While I enjoy the fact that the potential of a player is dynamic based on their statistics, I believe that player growth can be a bit too quick. I don't have too much of an issue with this, but I think it could be a good idea to have some sort of option where the player is allowed to decide the rate of growth, and whether dynamic potential is enabled. I know this is an irrelevant change and probably wouldn't have anyone that cared enough, I think this would just add to a level of challenge that there is with player growth.

When doing an MUFC CM, I find it too easy to grow players such as Rashford and Sancho, especially on growth plans. I believe it is important to focus on specific growth plans for players but, I don't enjoy having Rashford/Sancho rated 92+ by the end of season one. This comes with the added position where it seems that growth plans can be exploited with leaving young players on position modifiers for a season, and only accepting the change at the end of the current season.

One of the features that I have liked has to be the Create a Club CM. I think it helps with the personalisation of a player's CM. Obviously the feature is currently limited with the customisation features, but I think it lays the groundwork for future development. I think it would be a good feature if there is a way to add your own personal designs, without a third party. For example, if the player has designed their own club crest, I believe it could be a nice feature if the player is able to load that into the game and use it for their Create a Club's crest. This would be the same with the different kits. In terms of the club crest, I believe that the options are too generic and a feature like this could make the Create a Club CM stand out a bit more. Giving the player more customisation options would be the next way forward for this game-mode.

I think the one thing that much of the CM player-base would want is extensions to licensing. Obviously, this is a tedious process, but I remember the hype about the possibility of having the National League in CM. This was only furthered with the licensing of Wrexham FC. I believe having the extra league would one, be an incentive to add longer duration to CMs, but also add a distinct level of extra challenge to an RTG.

Adding to this, something I would definitely love to see is an expansion to Women's football. I think with the rise of the Women's game, there is a lot of potential for EA to jump on the possibility for a Women's football CM. However, the obvious problem is that there may be a lack of player-base that would warrant this expansion. I think that the Women's international teams are a start, and the next would be to start adding some leagues from the Women's game. However this is obviously filled with personal idealism.

FIFA Ultimate Team:

I personally have only more recently got into the FUT scene. With FIFA 20, I enjoyed the back-end of the FUT experience, with the Summer Heat expansion. FIFA 21, I only started playing in the May of 2021. With FIFA 22, I started FUT from the start practically. FUT for me has only grown on me in recent years. I believe this because I never used to enjoy the fitness system that was thankfully removed with FIFA 21. For that reason, I never really had a reason to enjoy the mode. However, nowadays that's a different picture.

I should specify, I currently only play Squad Battles [SBs]. I have tried playing Rivals, but there is always too much latency. I am not sure if this is an issue with the EA Servers, which I know from past experience is a heated issue. However, I am especially happy with SBs this year. I think that EA have really turned around a pointless and tedious game-mode, and made it worthwhile. Unless I have just good "pack-luck" I think that the pack odds have been greatly increased. Every week that I contend in the SB, I am always getting fantastic rewards. I remember that my first week of rewards, I received Di Natale, which was 700k coins. That has been the best pack pull I have ♥♥♥♥♥♥, but I have also received other good rewards which have helped establish the team that I currently play with.

Another feature I have enjoyed more this year are Squad Building Challenges [SBCs]. I feel this year that the SBCs have been more affordable, especially for players like myself that are free-to-play. I think my favourite SBCs are either Player moments, such as the Calvert-Lewin card, and different player picks and party bags. I think EA have made these a bit more affordable and I have enjoyed some great success with them.

Other:

I think the other game-modes like KO and VOLTA are just a waste. I would personally drop VOLTA has I still feel it is an underwhelming mode.
